put an old gas can with sugar gas mix in the back and hope the thief's take it then you will find out who stole your gas. They will break down and it will probably be someone you know. Are you sure the tank sending unit isn't going bad?

put 4 gallons of water and a gallon of gas in a can in the back of your truck, the fuel will float on the water and make them think it's full of fuel....that'll teach 'em

On the news here a guy had a lockable gas cap and they drilled a hole in his tank and took a full tank

locking gas caps are o.k. but wont deter someone if they know how to get around then. had one pryed off the neck of my 67 chevy truck and had to buy a whole new tank from the damage. the water gas idea seems good as long as you mark it somehow so you or your brother don't accidentally use it.

Someone told me a long time ago, you can add something to your vehicles that acts like an electric fence. As soon as they touch it they get zapped.

I've used the 1 gallon gas with 3 gallons of water trick before works wonders. But far and away the best way is adding 3 tubes of paste valve lapping compound to a few gallons of gas. Make sure to dissolve it. It will "dering" their engine within 50 miles. It will happen slowly too.

Around here, the gas theives are drilling holes in gas tanks to steal the gas. sure is a hard thing to stop.
Last year, I was helping out a guy by running a second ZTR at a big park job. I had a spare 5 gal GAS can in the truck, BUT IT WAS FILLED WITH DIESEL. Someone stole it out of my truck while I was out on the ZTR. I hope he dumped the contents into his car, thinking it was gas. I would love to have been there to see that.

Last year some fool stole a gas can off the trailer overnight. I had a different can which had a hole punched through the handle from a pitch fork, so it was essentially trash. I filled it half-full of water and added a bit of gas. I set the bait out by the alley and two days later it was gone, I assume from the same fool. ;)
