I own a lawncare & Landscaping company in Piedmont N.C. I have a job coming up soon to make a long story short im regrading a customers front and back yard to achieve proper drainage. I will be Using fill dirt with a final layer of top soil for the seed. I have alot of experience but this will be my first lawn from scratch. I would gladly appreciate some advice on getting the best results from the re planting. I am planning on fert the yard once the dirt is in and waiting two weeks before seed and straw. Obviously I would have rather planted a month ago or even fall but customer wants it done.

Thanks in advance any tips, advice appreciated......

Check your soil pH. You can put down the starter fertilizer at the same time as the seed.

Try to put down lime a week to ten days before fertilizing. Lime depletes nitrogen.

Use quality slow release fertilizers and grade one quality lawn seeds.

Do you have a mechanical method of checking grade?

Adding fill and topsoil, I'm assuming , no irrigation. That is probably going to be a big issue...
