Been using .080 from Landscaper pro, just wondering if something's better?

i like the octagon or square cut line...i've never tried spiral but that round line sucks because it doesn't cut as well. i always use .095.

i have some redmax square cut line and the octagon/hexagon i dunno what brand it is...just says commercial grade trimmer line...i think i got it at lowe's or somewhere

I switched to .105 Redmax braided. It's pretty dang good stuff. I used stihl x-line last year and the redmax is a ton better, and doesn't stick together as much.

Trying Shindaiwa 0.80" silent twist line this year. Anything is better than the round 0.80" Echo line I used last year.

I've found that Echo's round line fray's to easily.

.095 husky titanium is the best I've used. Lasts a while and cuts great.

not ignorance but experience! . i have used both and they suck big time. anyone who recommends either hasnt found the right line yet. the twisted stuff j thomas sells is decent but the best was grass gator . of course home depot dosnt sell it anymore. stick with regular line twisted line offers no advantage. in fact its less durable than normal line

.08 in the echo and just got a roll of the .10 titanum for the stihl. figured I would get a small roll and try it. I personally prefer heavier line and stihl during the spring to get thru w/ less usage then switch it up later in the season w/ a lighter string

Ive tried many many different lines in all shapes in .95 size and i'd say the NEW version of the shindaiwa silent twist with the tighter twists isnt too bad, its much better than the original version which what gave it such a bad rep. If the vortex line is the same as the black rotary brand, its only ok because ive always had problems with it welding and I think its too stiff to give a smooth cut, It drags very easily. Very durable though. The magnum super twist line is garbage at least in .95 size. It wears far quicker than their square line. I tried some orange star shaped shakespeare or arnold line once that I got from tractor supply and loved it but cant find it anymore. Other than it, I think oregons nylium starline is my favorite so far for all around use but its not a twisted line like you asked about..

Vortex is the big seller now. Its the same company that is makeing redmax line. The blue shindy line is probably the worst line I have ever ran.

Vortex is all I have ran for 2 years now. Best line to stand up to heavy trimming and maintaining edges. Its also reduced the line noise...

You might try Lowes. I saw a new line of 3# spools they're carrying now that is either grass gator or very similar. I don't remember exactly but it was .095 and a neon yellow/green color, star shaped type line.

actually, we have been in business for 30 years, tried them ALL, we only use twisted line as it cuts superiorly clean and saves wear and tear on trimmer clutches. but, you are right...it does not last as long.

we use shakespeare ultra twist but it was discontinued, so looks like gator twist is gonna be the next purchase

it's really weird that all of a sudden it's hard to find good trimmer line lol...one thing i noticed was be careful when buying 3 lb spools...i saw at ace hardware they had echo line in a 1 lb package that was $10...they also had a 3 lb spool that was $40...would be cheaper to buy 3- 1 lb packages rather than to buy a 3 lb spool.

That's rhino tuff Triangle shaped line. I bought the little $3 trial package and didn't care for it too much plus It breaks easily and would leave pieces all of lawns but it was very easy to spot to go back and pick it up.

Correction to above; incorrect name, the neon green stuff is Shakespeare ugly line.

good to know its not the quality line I thought it might be and that it breaks too much.

For $3 try it for yourself, maybe youll like it. My helper did and if I were in a bind I would buy more but I'd know to look for pieces to pick up.

I use the cheapo dark green stuff they sell at JDL/Lesco. $35 per 5lb roll doesn't weld and blends well with Fescue, no picking up trimmer scraps.

It is not my favorite but I buy it every now and then when the dealer has it on sale. As a matter of fact I just put a 3lb spool on the holder yesterday. I will agree that it is pretty good line and though it is not a true "twist" line it stills flies just as straight and holds up fine.
