hot or cold crack sealer?

Wondering if anyone can tell me what benefits there are to using hot crack sealer over cold. I'd like to just buy a diaphragm pump with an air compressor and use it to spray both the cold crack sealer and the driveway sealer but I'm not sure if the cold stuff holds up as well.

I was also wondering if I could just use a propane fired outdoor cooker to melt the hot crack filler or if I would need something a little heavier to do the job? I have zero experience with the stuff so I'd like to get a bit of instruction before I go all the way with it.

Ya definitely don't even think about the cold stuff, unless you have something better than what I used, because I tried over 10+ different products and they are all garbage. Hot crack sealer any day.

What are you using to melt it down, a guy that used to work at a sealer dealer told me to just use a propane burner and not to bother spending 2k on a melter applicator, I just don't know if my outdoor propane cooker is enough to melt the stuff or if I need a bigger burner. What do you think?

Ya if you want to be a redneck use a barbecue to heat it up lol. Or be a professional and buy yourself the machine that does all that for you, way more efficient, only cost me 1.5k

lol, I guess if it'll work i'll do the redneck thing for now, hopefully it'll not be long before I can justify spending enough to keep myself from looking like an ass. Do you have any recommendations on equipment for cracksealing or sealcoating?

Another question for ya, do you use sand for either a base filler before you crack fill or spread it on after to keep it from getting tracked?

I'm not sure where you are located, but search around on the internet for sealing companies.

You definitively don't want to put sand down before sealing the cracks since the sealer does not bond to sand. Just make sure the crack is clean before sealing it, then I add a black beauty, a black sand on top of it to prevent tracking with car tires.

I do both I have a Hot crack fill machine and if the customer dont want that. I use brewer cote tough stuff.

If you have help we prefer 10gal melter in the bed of the truck 1 guy on pour pot and 1 on the squeegee(for residential of course)

I have a walk behind 10 gal melter.. I may get a another one.
