Hey everyone,

This is my first post here, so please be gentle. I just traded in a toro timecutter 4200 for a 2011 JD 910A with a 48 inch deck. I have just under 100 properties, averaging from 100 sq. feet to 10 acres. I hope that the new deere is a good investment. Here in canada, it ran me just under $9500 with tax.

Anyone here have one, and how do you like it ?

Awesome, thanks guys.

2 quick questions:

First, do you guys have a striping kit, and do you find this machine stripes well?

Second, I have a property that needs to be cut super super super short. I demo'd the 910 the other day, but it didnt seem to cut nearly as short as my 4200 timecutter, even when at the 1.5 inch setting, which is the lowest the timecutter goes to as well. It was riding on the anti scalp wheels though, so hopefully if those are raised up, it will lower my cut height a fair bit. I actually put that into my purchase agreement, that it has to cut short enough, to my satisfaction prior to payment. I havent even picked it up yet. I get it next week. Just in time!!

You will need to raise your anti-scalp wheels to cut that short, can't say about the stripes.

Hope you're gettin paid well for that property. Seems like a real pain to change all the anti-scalp wheels just to mow one property. You should love the mower! The 900 series from JD are really fine mowers. Looks like I will be using a demo 925A with MOD deck this Friday. Tried a 925A with standard 60" deck last year and it was one nice mower. The handling is top drawer and the cut is excellent!!

Well i think its a fair price. It pays about $130.00 and took me 40 mins with my timecutter. I figure 30 mins with the 910Z now. The timecutter was a dog compared to the 910.

they come set up with the anti-scalp wheels all the way up here...the highest hole...there are 3 holes for adjustment.

I have the 22kawi in it. I figured it would be enough for a 48inch deck. I couldnt believe how smooth the controls were, and how fast it was. Bumpy ride at top speed though I have to admit. I hope it cuts nice at full speed as well.

be sure to check the air pressure in the tires...too much will make it bumpier lol...can you post some pics of it?

I have the Z910 54" it is great. Keep the blades sharp and proper tire pressure and the stripes are natural. On long grass that may need a second cut (cross/cut) start a half inch high then drop lower on the second cut. Z910 series gives a smooooooth cut.

I love my Z925. I just got the striping kit and it defiantly makes a difference. I never had a problem with the stripes before, just looking for a little more definition. Its expensive, but a good solid kit.

Hearing lots of good reviews on the 900 series.

i have a 910A 54" and love it! i don't use it commercially though, but i do cut a few yards besides mine. i have yet to really bog down the 22 Kaw even with the 54" deck. it seemed like it would be a little underpowered for that size deck but i haven't had any problems at all. this is my second year cutting with it too. i didn't get the stripe kit but it will stripe really well without it, so i can only immagine how it would do with a stripe kit. the ride is REALLY good, even without the suspension seat and the controls are very smooth. the ergonomics of the 900 series are perfect(for me anyways) and as far as other mowers i sat on prior to my purchase, i would only say Exmark and Hustler rival the 900 series for ergonomics. the only complaint i have with the mower is that the 910A doesn't come with the MOD deck. i know i could have stepped up to a 925A or so but my dealer cut me an awesome deal on this mower! you should really enjoy it when you get it!

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a '10 Z910A, 279 Hours, 48" 7Iron Pro, About 1 year of warranty left. They are asking $4995. There aren't any hard maintenance records but, the cemetery that owned it is on some sort of contract that they exchange their two machines every year.

Anyone have any thoughts about the price and how you think I should verify that it's not a lemon? I'm open to suggestions - this will be a step-up machine for me.
