Due to lots of rain all week and more forecast for tomorrow and today was the only dry day, I set a new record today for lawns mowed. All the same neighborhood, lots are typically 100x200 standard residential although a lot of them have smaller wooded back yards. 39 yards done, with a walkbehind, and no sulky. Exmark 48" TTHP which I had put in a 19HP engine to start the year really helped. Mulched too, no side discharge for me. I did have a guy on the trimmer/blower. 12 1/2 hours.

Who can top that?

Forgot to mention that I'm 50 years old. In good shape, have done Ironman distance triathlons in the distant past, still run some but not so much right now.

It also helps having clusters of 3, 4, or 5 houses together without moving the trailer.

Did 34 last friday. I'm only 19 but I had my helper with me who's 62 (my dad). We went back and forth on the equipment though. All were in 3 neighborhoods. Each stop has a min of 3 houses at it. One even has 6.

I couldn't imagine doing 39, I about killed myself doing 34...

I don't think I could finish 20 lawns if I waited for the right day and lined them all up and everything.
Matter of fact I'm not sure if I can do 10, it's just not the way I work.

Yup, the 1/4 ton model.

What I'm reading here is this is due to rain and having to jam all this work into one day. :hammerhead:

Fresh snow on the ground here now...what I truly dislike about this line of business is being chased around by the weather. I really enjoy aspects of the work but I'm looking for greener grass. On snow days building a snowman with my son or going skiing in fresh powder would be nice vs. moving snow off peoples drives and walks.

I did it consistantly for over 10 years. Had a HOA with 46 lots and 3 acres of common ground. Took 9 man hours to get it done. The place was inhabited by older people and they always complained that I mowed too fast. I just slowed down on the lots of those that complained.

You had to have been on a ZTR for that. Still a good number, and even better money.

That's the typical lot size, a lot of them are probably 7k-10k of mowing because of woods in the back yard. Lots of hills though. But one of them is 3/4 acre and it's all grass. Here's a picture of that one:

I don't rush on lawns,
I also don't keep a record of most lawns done for one day.
So I'm just going to guess that I've done like 8-10 in a day.

I did 13 yesterday. Left the house at 9am and got back at 8:30PM. The last yard I was trimming in the dark. I finally kicked up the speed control on the Grandstand. This thing is so much faster than my WB.

Haha, I'm right there with ya. Every time I have had to really kick it into high gear to get a bunch done, something backfires and I get fewer done than I normally would have.

The most I have done in recent years is 12.

39 yards in 12.5 hours SOLO right? Very nice man.

I run a 36 exmark metro and really really loved the TurfTracers. I ended up with Toro's version of one though. 2003 Proline 48 with just a 15hp Kohler. My metro is newer and all but the Toro is now my primary mower. Being able to back up with my sulky and operate it just like a ZTR, because of the hydros, makes a huge difference. Just seeing how you like that TTHP. I want to throw a 19hp Kawi on the Toro when the Kohler is done, although the 15hp hasn't really been underpowered in any situations, I'm sure that 19 is niiice.

Also, this is only my second year at it although I've been running companies most my life. My company has hit nowhere near 39 in a day. Heck, I only have 30 lawns and I can't find anyone who is worth a darn at edging/trimming. Constantly have to go behind them and their not even fast. Ugh, anyway I think most done with a 3 man crew in a 8hr day was almost 30. Then again never had a huge number to accomplish infront of us in one day.

I don't think anyone is saying that it matters or that anyone is lowballing (except for you). There are simply times when you have to bust ass and get a lot done in one day. For some people that is 10 lawns, for others it is 40.

Secondly, I don't see how your post is relevant to the question of the thread...

me and my helper did 49 repo's and foreclosures in 14 hours with 6 hours drive time between yards. We didn't have to trim or blow and they were all a foot tall and looked like **** when we were done but that's all they cared about was getting them knocked down to avoid fines. i junk dixon rider and a walk-behind bush-hog.

We should turn this into "whats the most money grossed in one day from lawn cutting"
For you guys that are doing 60lawns in a day. If you avg $35 a lawn. thats almost 2K in a day. Who are the guys that keep saying theres no money in lawn care?

Good point about the money made. At the end of my day, it's rare that I care the count of yards, but I'll go through and add up the dollar figure I just earned. Not only does it put a smile on my face, it helps keep me honest to make sure what I'm charging is still matching my "hourly" rate.

For the record, this afternoon will probably be my record. Should get started about 1:00 and hope to clear about 12 yards. I'll be on the TTHP and edger duty, with my brother on trimmer and push mower.

Hard to compare apples and oranges. I've got yards that take 90 minutes on the mower, and yards that take 12 minutes on the mower.
