Thanks guys, To answer some questions, i only run 60's i bought a new 48 inch Exmark metro a few years back because i thought i would use it, I ended up only putting maybe 50 hours on it and it sat for a year un-used in the shop till i sold it for next to nothing lol.

There is nothing wrong with the old Lazer shes just getting alittle old and has a fair amount of hours on her, Close to 2k.

The new lazer seems pretty good its taking alittle getting used to since i have put almost all of the hours on the other lazer. I opted for the 29 efi kohler to try and help with gas savings.

Thanks man, ill have to get back to you on gas consumption, My older lazer ripped through fuel pretty quick, I'm gonna fill the new lazer up tomorrow and see how much it takes, i Put exactly 10 gallons in it this morning at the pump.

THEGOLDPRO

I will say also that the new Lazer is much more planted then the older one, it holds the hills much better and doesn't slip the wheels when mowing on the hills like my old lazer does.

I think you will really like the new body exmark. I love mine, its not efi so its plenty hard on fuel, but I wouldnt change a thing. They are tough as well, 600 hours on mine, not a bolt turned other than changing blades. Nice buy though, let us know how the fuel consumption is. Im considering the efi for this next one as well.

I love the ultra cut deck, My turf tracer has the ultra cut as well. its a good deck and does good in the wet. It does tend to build up some grass underneth if you don't keep an eye on it but it always mows good and throws the grass good even with grass build-up.

I know what you mean I made one out of a mudflap for my other mower and it works good and just flaps over roots and crap. This one seems like I have to be more careful like it could get ripped off by a good root.

I mow 6-7 days a week through out the summer. The older lazer is an 08 and has close to 2k hours on it. the turf tracer is an 09 and has like 800 hours roughly.

They are really clean because i don't kick the piss out of my equipment and take good care of them, I also power wash them as often as i can when i have some down time.

Yea some people are set in there ways and don't like change. The new lazer def seems worth it to me, It holds the hills 3 times better then the old lazer does, its just so much more balanced. I have to fiddle with the striping kit on the new lazer and try and lower it, it doesnt stripe half as good as the old lazer with the triton deck and the striping kit.

How is your new lazer doing on gas I see you got the kohler. I got the one with the kawi last week and mine is killing me on gas so far. I talked to my dealer and he said it should get better when the engine breaks in but I filled up put 4 hrs on it and gas light was on. Went to the gas station and put 10 gallons back in to fill up. That is like 2.5 gallons per hour. That sucks

I've got an '09 model with 29hp kawi just like your's and it got better on fuel after 75 hours or so. Another thing to remember is that it uses alot of gas just running whether your putting around on a 10K lawn or a 5 acre estate its gonna use about 1.75 gallons per hour. BTW you wasted money on a stripe kit, it will do that without it. I have found that the best blades for me are the Exmark highlift mulching blades with side discharge in the fall and regular Exmark or Oregon highlift for spring and summer. I also mow Tall Fescue at 4" and mixed grasses at 3.25". Hope this helps, enjoy the new mower.

That is just a little over a half a gallon per hour. My dealer told me I should be getting around 1.5 to 1.7 gallons for a hour. I dont know how accurate this is but 2.5 for a hour is rediculous. I have been real happy with the kawi on my other mower is why I opted for the kawi but who knows maybe it will get better other than that the mower is great.

It gets better but not alot, my first choice for engines will be Kohler EFIs for now on. The fuel savings will hopefully make up for a shorter lifespan.

I adjusted the stripe kit yesterday when i got home, it was a a pain to adjust because its hard to get under the mower to reach it with the wheels on, so i ended up taking the back wheels off and adjusting it. There are only 3 positions the kit can be adjusted to, mine was in the middle, so i lowered it to the 3rd slot all the way down. Ill let you know if it makes a difference or not tomorrow when i start mowing again.

How did the stripe kit work lowered did it get hung on stuff. I put 2.7 hours on my blazer today and burned a little over 3.5 gallons that's not too bad that's like 1.3 gph I swear the other day it was like 2.5 gph but I was cutting big fields and today just smaller yards. No they got rid of the nice steel roller, I guess people were burning through bearings or something, my old z has close to 2k hours on it with a stripe kit from day one with no issues ever from the stripe kit??? the new stripe kit is a big plastic one with a steel core.

I also double cut, whatever lawns need, it, some I will just raise the deck, and go over the lawn the same way I cut to break grass clippings up, others I cross cut, especially if the house is on a corner of two roads that see a lot of traffic. cutting the same direction for 2 weeks really helps strips stand out....

Hey gold, got a question. Are you extremely happy with the ultracut deck on the exmark ztr? I'm in season 2 with a 48", and we're thinking the cut quality isn't the greatest. I've seen some sweet stripes with the new exmark stand-on, and I might replace the zt with one. Trying to groom nice residentials in a wet spring with the added weight isn't a plus with the ztr.

THEGOLDPRO
05-15-2011, 09:00 AM
If im being honest i think the triton deck left a little better cut and also striped better then this mower does. I noticed the striping kit i have on the triton is about a foot longer then the new kit on the next gen lazer, this is because the next gen has the deck pushed further back then the triton and can only put a small striping kit on it.

If i had to pick one for a stripe competition it would be my lazer with the triton.

Next year im looking to add another crew to help with the mowing and help do the odd jobs that we currently have trouble doing because of time. Im not interested in doing any type of hardscaping at this time such as patios/walls/Walkways. I do however want to get into fert.

I do not recall if you answered this question already or not (if so, sorry!), but do you double-cut a lot of stuff? If so, is it at the customer's request or do you just do it for your own personal satisfaction? Either way, I think striping that way adds a nice touch to a lot of those accounts with the hills especially. A local dealer just started carrying eXmarks and I looked at those Lazers when they first got them in and they really seem like a great mower. Everything looks really good! Oh and btw, how did that Chevy work out for you over the winter? are you using it for landscaping at all?

My Lazer was down for a week due to a blown engine and I had to use another mower and it made me realize how much I love my exmark. It's just awesome at just about everything except the really wet, thick stuff. The handling is far superior to anything I've used.

Well to be honest i didnt hate the cheeta it was a good machine i just liked the lazer a little more. The main thing i didnt like was i demoed one with the size engine i was going to buy it was a 29hp and it seemed to bog down on hills and stuff like it was drawing too much power or something. the lazer felt smoother and didnt bog down like the cheeta did on the hills i put it on. Im also not sold on the 2 speed gear box i know i would never mow with it full out so that would only be used for transpost speed. and the last thing was i like red and black lol i decided i wanted to keep em all red so everything matched.

Goldpro: what would be your biggest tip on how to keep your lines that straight? I have a har time keeping em straight with my Bad Boy ZT
Posted via Mobile Device

Biggest thing is making sure the first line you make is straight, if the first line is off the rest will look like crap. Pick an object in the distance and drive right for it dont look down at the deck dont look around stare at whatever you set as your mark and dont take your eyes off of it. Also dont make big corrections while mowing it will make the lines look like crap, keep it smooth and make very small corrections if you need to.

THEGOLDPRO

I like em both but i would put my money on the Ultracut it does better in the wet.

Does the ultra cut stripe good I am pretty picky about striping just like you. I want to make sure it stripes well I think I want to go with a 52 27 or so.

GoldPro...Before I begin I want to say Hello to everyone, this is my first post on this website..GoldPro,Amazing work! I myself just got a new Toro G3 29HP 60" TurboForce.. It was an easy decision for me,we dont have any "good" exmark dealers close...Anyway,I wanted to ask you about the one over grown lawn you posted pictures of..You said you just mowed it,got in and out...Although,the length of that grass,I know it took some time..My question to you is..Say you have a nice maintained lawn and you mow it for $60...If that same lawn that you mowed for $60 was overgrown like the one you posted,How much would you charge for a one time cut like you did???

TriCityLawnCareLLC
06-09-2011, 07:56 AM
I'm not the Goldpro, but If i maintain it for $60 and it was that high I'd charge at minimum, double.

THEGOLDPRO
06-09-2011, 03:04 PM
Correct i charged him $100 bucks to knock it down, and i mow it weekly now for $50 it took us roughly 25 minutes to mow, trim, and blow the yard when it was over grown.

he sure does cut straight

the hardest part is not thinking about it the whole time you are cutting a stripe

eventually it will come natural

Thanks guys, This property is not treated its just like this naturally, This is a field in the condo complex we mow.

I learned to mow in fields when i first started landscaping for a company years ago, all we did was mow fields at a big commercial complex so thats why im so good at making long straight lines. its all practice and patience.

:drinkup:What happens when I get to use the mowers I pay for. I was well into a few bears sitting by the pool on a Saturday afternoon when a customer called ask me to have the lawn cut for a big party the next day. It came out real nice besides the last few strips but a fixed them with a boader stripe. My crew thinks I can't mow showed them.
