View Full Version : trimmer question and engine size

I'm going to buy a new trimmer for my ~20 residential accounts and I had a few in mind. Two of the potential trimmers are the extact same built, 100% idnetical except the engins. One is a 21CC and the other is 24CC. Does that threee CC really make much of a difference? The price difference is $60 and im trying to keep my costs low. The third trimmer is a 28CC, and it's a tad more epensive than the 24CC> Thanks guys

The 21cc is a toy. At a miniumum go with the 24cc. Ideally the 28cc will be your best choice.

I'm new to this so sorry for my ignorance, but if I'm only going to be using it for grass trimming, does the power really matter? As long as it can cut a blade of grass shouldn't that be good enough? does the power of the engine have any corolation to the durability of the unit? I want something taht will last. thanks

go with the 24cc...the 21cc will be weaker and the 28cc will be heavier

My Stihl Fs100Rx has 31 cc's. you could buy a 21 at wal mart. dont bother. Get the biggest engine with the best weight

Yes, engine size affects power and you won't be cutting through just one blade of grass,
more like hundreds and thousands of them and especially when the stuff gets thick
and tall you can have whatever string behind it but you need raw HOARES Powah
Let me tell you, even my FS-100rx feels a bit bogged down some days,
anything less powerful just takes that much longer but you can make do
with a 24cc, that's not bad.
