I have a hitch on one of our riders that we use to pull small implements (dump cart, aerator, dethatcher). I know the aerator, loaded up, weighs 200-250lb. The rider pulls it without problem.

My question is has anyone pulled a lawn roller with a rider? The lawn roller I would rent is 500lbs. Am I asking for trouble here?

the park district here has rollers on the back of their riders......thought it was pretty slick. So far, I have just seen them used when they are mowing the ball diamond outfields but at least that might help with the 'can it be done' question.

What size rollar? If it can pull a 250lb aerator with out spinning the tires and damaging the turf then I don't see why not. The aerator has much more resistance as it is pulling the plugs. The 500lb rollar can be pushed or pulled by the average person so it should be fine

Good point.... but can it? That seems like a lot of weight for a person to roll around.

Either way, I think i'm gonna give it a shot and see how it works.

I have wondered the same thing. I pull a 700lb lawn roller with a Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle. I'm not sure if its good on the hydros or not but i do it anyways. I would prefer to get a 4x4 4wheeler to do it but i guess if you dont break the rider keep going.
