Sealcoating Issue

I've started up a sealcoating business in my city. Around 2 weeks ago I filled my tank sealant, it remained in the tank for that time because of poor weather. Today I decided to spray a relatives home.

Before I went for the seal, I ran the pump to recirculate the product. Got the property, got all set up and 30s into spraying the tip started clogging up. It took a good 45min to coat that driveway because of clog after clog. Once it was done-yes there was over spray, I felt like I had to dump it all.

Once I got home I checked up online if there were any possible solutions. I found out a gun is more preferred to a wand and an inline filter can be added to hose out-put to prevent sludge.

I bought a gun from asphaltkingdom but no inline filters. Would anyone know what type of inline filter would work for seal coating, or if theres something else I could do.

Yesterday was 17 celsius and today its 19. I'll be spraying a cousins place today. I ran the system for 45 min in agitation mode-try to mix up the batch. I'm still looking for a filter. The sealant is pretty thick, I'm thinking wire mesh instead of fabric.

So I did the seal, turned out much better then yesterday-that 45min of agitation really helped. Unfortunately I still had around 10 clogs during the seal. My only solution is a filter. I'm going to a hydraulics dealer tomorrow to see if he would have an in-line filter solution.

Thanks for the recommendation JF. I called up the company I dealt with when i bought my system, turned out they sold a filter upgrade for my set-up. I bought filter and got it installed. We sealed a place today and no clogs, BUT there was a noticeable drop in pressure, much smaller V. I'm going to check the filter and see how affective it was, cleaning it might also help in pressure.

BTW please don't tell me you really use that black knight liquid poor crack sealer?

It's totally garbage, as soon as it rains all your cracks will disappear. and it wont last tru the winter with that material, trust me.

I am unable to increase the pressure. The motor is connected directly to the pump. I'm looking into how to tweak the carb on the motor to gain some rpm's.

Guilty as charges using the black night. Crack filling is part of our services, I need a cost efficient product- cant beat 10bucks a jug. I suppose if a customer wants something more heavy duty I can up-sell to hot rubber.

My engine is mounted to a 10GPM pump also, but I have a pressure setting also.

To be honest, I would be better of not putting anything rather than putting that crack sealer, it really doesn't last long, only people who use it are gypsies like Spring Masters.

If you want to be a professional, buy a 30 gal melter, the blocks are 25-30$ each and are good for 100-300 linear feet.
