Picture of the inside of the trailer, note my low tech low budget weed wacker rack? Im going to get a jungle jim rack next year, I needed to spend the money on advertising this year! Also the Gravely Pro 50, which is getting new rings and valves.

The Pro 50 and the little wonder push blower I bought off Ebay for $125.00......needed a valve job!:)

Thanks, im pretty excited I picked up the trailer used for $1200.00, it was a steal to say the least. It's my first year in business on my own. I have been landscaping since I was 16, but always for someone else. This was the year to go out on my own and prove it to myself and others I could do it. If I can run a business in this economy then hopefully when things get better I will be all set.

How did you get an Allison transmission in a gas model?

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on that trailer!

FerrisDiesel
05-01-2011, 06:55 PM
It's a six speed......im pretty sure its an allison.....hmmmmmm

Oakleaf landscape
05-01-2011, 07:25 PM
You can get them without the Duramax and still get the Allison Transmission. Does the truck not have an Allison sticker on the side of the hood by the windshield?

mowerbrad
05-01-2011, 07:38 PM
The Chevy HD's with the 6.0L Vortec engine can only get one transmission, there is no other option. The Vortec engines are paired with a 6-speed hydro-matic transmission. The Allison transmissions are only available with the Duramax diesel option, you can't put an Allison on with a Vortec (unless you do it yourself with aftermarket kits).

A few years ago when Chevy was still offering the 8.1L gas engine, you could get an Allison transmission with that. That was the only way you could get an Allison on a gas engine (from the factory), but like I said that was back when the 8.1L was still in production.

I have never heard or seen a current Chevy HD truck having the Allison transmission and not having the Duramax engine also.

It does not have a aillson transmission i was looking at them earley in person.

Honestly....I used to be a Ford guy, but I couldn't touch a 3/4 ton ford for the price I got this one at, so I switched sides :) I really don't know too much about Chevys, what I do know is, this truck has some B@!!$ lol I also know I love it and wish I had more time in the day to sit and read my owners manual :nono:

the NBS I am not sure about. The OBS like I have, it was available with the Heavy-Duty Towing Package (5th wheel harness, gears, towing mirrors, etc.). I found that out last week when I was crawling around under my truck changing the oil and looked at the tranny.

looks like you have another little wonder carcass in the edge of that picture? needs motor maybe? I picked a 10 horse intek one from my buddy for a good price. I love the power of this thing!! only thing that scares me is the intek motor, they dont have a very good track record. How does the eight horse do??

Later!! chris

The other little wonder has an 8 hp honda.....I picked that up for free. It didnt have any compression, so I pulled it off the impeller and took it apart and low and behold it had a broken connecting rod. So I am in the process of repairing that. The other one with the briggs has no compression either, gonna wait a couple more weeks and pull that one apart!

Looks great sweet truck. Only one nit pick if I may, make sure your edge is either a little deeper or a little more defined. Other than that good work!

FerrisDiesel

Thanks Zak, I was going to do deeper edges around the beds but we are going to be doing cobblestone edging in the spring so didn't want to waste the time.

Lawnman, a friend of mine is letting me borrow it for clean-ups and mulch. He made it up to deliver firewood which worked out very well for him.. I can't tell you how many times this year that trailer saved my butt lol

I dont know man that is so long that it would hinder him backing up the trailer and even making sharp turns. Your best bet would be to get some steel and weld up a basket that would conform your leaf vac almost like stilts for it but with four legs instead of two!

I love my dumper, although 6.5 is alittle small it works good for me especially during mowing season. Clean-ups were kinda tough, but I am going to make the box taller next year and hope that works. It's been great for me, im sure it's not for everyone, but I can't afford another truck (maintenance, insurance, registration etc.)

ArenaLandscaping, I saw that on CL and was thinking about getting a basket, just think that may be to big. I think I will do like Zak says and build stilts for it next year.

Replaced the springs on the side of the headgear that hold it in the upright position so you can drive into it. I also took the pump out and changed the fluid, all I have left is to fix the leg on the A Frame that jacks it up. I also added some auxillary back-up lights...........I know, I know alot of people hate putting them there, but I don't plan on backing into any snow piles!

FerrisDiesel

It's a 9 footer, Curtis sno-pro 3000...........my Uncle gave it to me, I had to rebuild the headgear on it and had it sandblasted and painted last year. The truck handles it pretty well.

I love my Chevy, it's a 2009 HD It has 47,000 miles on it now. Mine handles my 16 foot enclosed like it's nothing..........the gas mileage with my ez-dump and towing is about 10 mpg.............I was getting about 18 mpg without the dump bed insert.
The truck plows great, the only bad part is it's kinda long. I really have no complaints about it!

I was bagging every single account, but this week I actually opened up the back door to the bagger and let the clippings fly out. There are a couple lawns I can do that with. I usually use 2 large green landscaping barrels and dump the bagger into that so it's not as heavy
