What r your thoughts on this engine? The good and the bad.

Happy with mine at 23,000 miles. Only thing I don't like is the regen and fuel mileage but as soon as I get $1,000 saved up that will be history. it seems like a very overbuilt engine and will do well if you service it faithfully.

It is an awesome engine that is choked out by emissions bullshyt. It will pull anything you put behind it but will also get crappy mileage no matter what.

Crew cab, lariat, fx4 (4x4), 3.55 rear, 20" wheels. Empty highway I get 16-18 at 70-75mph. Towing heavy around 9-11. Overall mixed driving I usually end up around 12-13.

I dont own one but ive driven them before for a construction company I used to work for. Milage does suck, however if you would delete the emissons bullshit you would be getting the same miles you would in any other diesel...

I have the 450 and love it. I didn't get it to do 110 but I can pull anything I put behind it.

F-550 weighing in at 14,000 pounds with tools and crane. Runs like a champ but had lots of problems early on (new turbo, radiator, exhaust sensors) but I found the best Ford diesel shop in NC I'm sure. It gets 8-9 mpg but it will pull anything and do it with a smile. I love it, but I wish it got better mileage.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that higher ratio rear ends will NEVER get anything past 12-13.

For what its worth, the mileage y'all are getting is actually pretty good when you compare it to dodge and chevy. Delete the emissions and get a good tune for it and watch those numbers climb.
