how do you like your ferris mower? im looking at getting a 2010 demo unit with 100ish hours on it. does it discharge clippings well? and hows it do in wet grass?

Hawkeslandscaping
05-09-2011, 09:09 PM
The financing is great 0% for three years can't go wrong buy a new one if you can. The mower cuts great in wet grass little to no clumps the chute opening is so big it can't clump lol. I got a is 2000z with a 34 h.p kawasaki plenty of power the suspension compared to my exmarks ride is like riding on a cloud I love it! don't regret buying new either the price of used ones its not worth it buy used. imo

looks good hawkes!!! only thing i say is to slow down mowing , you can tell at the ends of each pass your getting squirrly slowing down and k turning it back into your next pass inconsistent aswell . Quality of cut looks good just slow down a tad and see what a little cut back can do for your overall apperence quality

Work looks good, so does the truck. Painting all those stakes would have drove me crazy.

Hawkeslandscaping
01-08-2012, 12:30 PM
it didn't take to long to paint the stakes i wanted the two color ones because guys tend to take them if you only paint them one color around here plus it not your basic orange or green like everyone else. Like I said earlier image is important to me that's why I painted the stakes that way.

LawnMan19
01-08-2012, 01:00 PM
Yeah, I feel image is important as well. So I think those stakes look real good and set you apart from the regular ones but in a good way.Thumbs Up

Great looking setup! what size trailer is that?

Hawkeslandscaping
01-08-2012, 05:31 PM
the trailer is a sixteen foot rugged built brand trailer it trailers good its got the front tongue that goes all the way back to the first axles much stronger and doesn't allow the trailer to flex like the other models. for the few hundred more it cost to anyone looking to buy upgrade to that frame much better built!

Srupid question. What are all the stakes for? I'm gonna guess marking when plowing? Idk we might get an inch pf snow a year if we are lucky.

The lazer is a 52in the axles are dexter 3500lbs each on the trailer, thinking about selling the 52in and buying another 61in ferris.

I see you got the mower from precision. Ive bought ever mower from them and just about everything else related to mowing from them. They seem to help you when you need it and have reasonable prices.

I am surprised that you like the ferris so much. I have never owned one but rode them in the past. I can't stand the suspension or the size of the seat/leg room area. No where near my exmark. The suspension ferris I was using was impossible you couldnt circle or half circle anything without an un even cut. If you were mowing a slope side to side it would leave high grass on the high side scalped or short on the lower side. The quality of the cut and the ability to disperse the clippings wasn't bad but didn't seem to touch the exmark. Not bashing your mower.....its a ford its a chevy its a dodge.....ferris...jd...exmark...scag they are all comparable. Nice set up I noticed you had your mowers "centered" on your trailer. I would recommend strapping them down especially around here. DOT will give you enough tickets to hit ya hard.

Great the walk behinds have been great never had any problems with them the ferris with the icd deck is great no clumps and the cut quality is great.

Yeah jason at precision is the owners son he works with you when purchasing equipment he know I buy a lot from them just bought a leftover bagger yesterday pics to follow. overall they are a decent dealer the products are good and prices on mowers is the cheapest within 75 miles of my of any ferris other dealer.

Its all user preference I used toros for years with my old boss and the cut quality was horrible and they always break. As far as the cut quality I am surprised you have had a issue with the ferris I love the cut that the mower leaves the point of the suspension is to leave a more even cut cause the deck stay in the same position while your cutting and the suspension makes mowing rough properties great. My mower has a suspension seat as well as the suspension on the mower.

I like the mulch installation photos. What are the stakes for? I'm guessing not to mark sprinkler heads when aerating and de-thatching but not sure. Oh yeah those are nice ferris mowers. I like how you stick with the same brand. That is key so your better able to understand their operations and maintenance.

My guess would be the stakes are used for driveway markers when he plows!!

Although the totals have been a little lower the times we have gotten snow it has been a lot to plow. Few big storms with wet snow have put us to the test with equipment and how much work we can handle.

Yeah the biggest thing for me and my business is to always keep our appearance very professional. Equipment gets washed and maintained on a weekly basis trucks especially get washed at least once or twice a week. To me that's what sets us apart clean equipment clean work. People really respect professionalism there are a ton of landscapers around here that just drive around with there junk trucks and trailers fly by nights.
