Went and looked at an exmark z for the first time today. Dealer didn't seem to friendly but could have been having a bad day. How's this price $9900 exmark z 27 liquid cooled 60'' with ultra- vac (3 bag system). First time checking out exmark hows the price or could it be lower? Only other problem- can only demo mower on the dealers side lawn:mad: and mower has 8.4 hours on meter:confused: Thanks for your help Joel

what is up with these dealers that don't allow demo's? My dealer went out of his way for me and said I could take out any piece of machinery they had out for a day or two. When I found something I liked I bought it from him. Maybe could have bought somewhere else a little cheaper but I wanted to have the service behind the sale.

Scott,
Those sound like words of wisdom to me. I even went to Exmark's website (they have a link on the main page-that way lawnsite.com gets credit) and did a dealer search by zip code. I even used a different zip code to find other dealers not close to my home (the zip code I used is the area that our work is in).

Jsaunders,
That seems like a real good price! It is a 2002? Right? I paid $8495 (Fall 2000) for my '01 model and $1800 (Fall of 2001) for the Ultra-Vac for it. So your price of $9900 seems pretty good, as I'm sure prices have gone up over the past 2 years.
As for demo's. Once that machine is DEMOed, its technically a USED mower! Would you want to buy a "supposedly" new mower that has 8-10 hrs use on it for FULL price? A lot of times its up to the distributor to arrange Demo loaners. Unless I go to a field day, my dealer really frowns upon getting a brand new machine all dirty for me to hot rod around on.
Minnesota... You said "just bought one
last week 8699.50 for 60" lazer z 27 not liquid
cooled" What exactly is a "not liquid cooled lazer z 27"?
I do know that in the 2003 model year that some other engines will surface that would fall under your description of your engine, but so far as I know, they're not out yet.

The machines that I demoed had around 100 hr on them. They use them as well for replacement equipment when commercial cutters are having work done on their machines. Also my dealer is franchised by a few other local companies so they can share equipment for demoing purposes.

2003 60" eXmark Lazer 27hp Kawasaki
and no its not liquid cooled its just a
regular z sorry for the confusion
Minnesota,
Don't be sorry! Your confusing me even more? What is this 27hp Kawasaki AIR COOLED engine? I've not seen or heard of one yet? Sure you dont have a 25hp?
So is anything new on the '03's that we don't know about?

The price does seem good to me but the nearest dealers are 45 min in any direction. I haven't gone and seen the other dealer but the one that I saw just seemed ''to busy'' to deal with me:confused: AND the demo problem is a big concern with me. All I have is Ferris equipment and the dealer is 15 min away- yet I demoed the 60'' IS ferris for three days ( I only put 7 hrs on it) but the dealer wanted me to get used to it. I would have no problem buying a machine that had 10-15 hrs on it if I liked it. THINK the exmark dealer will let me return the machine after i use it and don't like it? :D

I bought a 2002 Lazer Z 26 Fuel Injector 72" in May for 8400.

WOW! I must have gotten a really good deal... I picked up a Lazer Z HP 52" 23Koh for $6500 this past May, and just last week, a Lazer Z 60" 27Koh for $7200. Come to Backyard Power in Woodbine, MD for your mowers instead!
Jamie:D
So now they're putting out 27hp Kohlers in Lazers as well? It's really something that THIS year the '03 lineup from Exmark is so secretive. They're already out with these new engines, yet not even a puff of info on here or on the Exmark site.
Used to be they hyped the new model years starting in August.
How do you like the 27 Kohler?

jalawn:
for that price i could fly out to MD and drive
it back to MN and still be cheaper than what i paid

my two 52 inch, 23hp Kaw's were $7200 here. I like that MAryland price!!!

Is that $7200 for 1, or $7200 for both
jalawn

Minnesota:
Sorry, but it was $7200 for the 60" only.
TLS:
The 27 Koh isn't too bad. It is the horizontal shaft. The front side runs the pumps, and the back side runs the blades. But the back side 'bends' the belt so it is vertical under the mower to the deck. Know what I'm talking about? The guy at the dealer said that the twisted belt wasn't a problem, even though it looks like trouble. The engine only has 8 hours on it right now, but it seems a little less powerful in relation to my 23 Koh that is on the 52" HP. Sounds good when it starts though.
Jamie
jalawn,
Just so you know...FYI....whatever...:D
All Lazers have a horizontal crankshaft engine. They all have the mule belt drive (bends, or twists as you say it) and they've been like this for about 10 years. I don't like it, but it is perfected.
So the 27/60" isn't as powerful as you 23/52" ? That 23 is really a dog on paper when it comes to power, I'd have the dealer look at the 27 for ya!
Good Luck!

Sorry, I'm a little new to the Exmark scene...
When I was comparing those engines, I was talking about using every last HP, going up a hill, in thick grass. Really testing it out.The 60" is quite a bit larger in overall size compared to the 52". the 52 is a small frame, and the 60 a big frame. Maybe it was that nasty oil they put in those things when they ship them out of the factory...

i was going to buy a 52 hp with a 23 kohler this past summer but didn't have the funds to do it this season. TWO dealers here in memphis were getting $6499 + tax for them. i think the kawi's were about 300 or so more.
