View Full Version : one long day
Just some venting here, my day started about 1 am when two little hurricanes named franny and kristy woke me up in the middle of the night.
Well off to work first account goes smooth so i start to think maybe that little celtic voice in my head saying its gonna be a bad luck day was wrong.
LOl What a day it was. hydro goes out on a toro zmaster and me and my nefhew gotta push that thing up on the trailer and get to the dealer merciful that it is still under warrenty.
next the trailer gets a flatt no spare so i gotta buy a tire.
Next piece of bad luck nefhew runs a scag walkbehind right up against wooden fence knocking out two boards that we gonna have to replace.
Then somehow one of the pins on the caster wheels on the scag comes loose and the front tire comes off and he runs over the tire destroying it.
Well i told him its time to quit pack it up go home.
If tomorrow is like today im gonna have a breakdown:dizzy:

That's tough. Sorry your having all this luck. I think after the 2nd thing I would have packed it in. After all that, I would have the breakdown tonight. Break out the Jack and coke, time to relieve some stess.

Sorry for your luck!
Bad days happen to all of us... once upon a time a 36" scag walk behind of mine vanished. Turned out the operator made a left turn into a 5' pond!!! Believe it or not after five of us fished it out and serviced it, the thing was back on the job 3 hours later.
The moral; Never give up

Walker is the savior of all LCO's.
Whoops, wrong Walker.
Sorry to hear about your bad day. It happens to the best of us. I can't feel so bad now that I finally dried off and thawed out after mowing and aerating in a cool rain.
Tomorrow has to be better. But don't count on those 2 little darlings giving you any rest.

Dust off your pants, take the reins and get back on that horse. After a good nights sleep of course.
Take care!

I read this post yesterday, and thought, I hope my day is not a bad one tomorrow!
Well, I think my brake booster went out! I had no brakes at all about half way to the first lawn! and I had 12 to do!:(
I had to pay my old partner to use his truck to get the 12 lawns done.
Now I have to finish my beer, and start working on the truck.:dizzy:

Dang Jack, that was brutal.
My computer was down past couple days, and I just saw your troubles. Wow, do you have to haul the Toro out to where you bought it, seems like that was a good drive.
I had two huricanes with the flu last week, not good sleeping for me, nor working when I got it as well.
Most of my stuff brakes on Monday. I service everything up, ready for the week, and everything falls apart Monday. It really amazes me.
Throw a come along in the tool box in case a rider dies again, makes it alot easier to load on the trailer. I know, cus I did it by myself not all that long ago!
Looks like you have a winter project hooking up a spare tire carrier as well. :D
Take care, and kiss the girls for me! ;)

Odin,
I didn't know you went as far as Glenwood or Lynwood. Thats gettin mighty close to my old stompin grounds in Riverdale. Worked on the fire dept for 5 years there as a paid on call. Spent many long nights fightin fires in Harvey.
I know you aint mowin many lawns there.
mowed
Ton of 300 to 500k homes have went up in the lynwood lansing area we got a ton of em there.
Now harvey forgetttttttttt it ,we did some for a realtor never again my friend.
Had to take a day and bring the rottie and a couple of other weapons with us.
4 white dudes mowing stuck out like a sore thumb in harvey.

Odin and Mowing at the Lake, whats up with those toro 100's?? I've got a 2002 255 zmaster. When I bought it all the dealer told me was to change the Engine oil and filter at the first 5 hours. I got to reading in the book and it says to change the hydro filter at 5hours and top off the mobile 1 oil. I asked my dealer, he had no idea, so he called his area rep and he said go ahead and change it. I already had almost 50 hrs on it by then. The dealer told me the only time he had seen hydro failures was after someone had messed with the system or change the filter. How many hours do you guys have on your mowers and how often if at all have you changed the hydro fillter. Curious, and wondering what I have to look forward to.
Odin, sorry about your bad day, but remember when you having problems like that, just remember all the fun you do have with those 2 little hurricanes, cause thats what it's all about :) Goodluck, Marc

We have about 510 or so hours on it its a 2002 19 horse kaw 52 inch 100 series. We changed the filter at about 8 to 10 hours and then again at close to 500.
We put those big *** dfs baggers on the two toros for the upcomeing leaf season and im wonderin if that had somthing to do with it.
Dealer said it didnt but i still wonder them things are heavyyyy

Odin, don't know if thats the reason but I did demo a Z287 liquid cooled with the dfs system and it felt real heavy compared to my Z255 without the bagger. I think the Toro rep told me somewhere around 600lbs shipping weight for the larger 200 series unit. Then just imagine a hopper full of wet grass or leaves too. Hope those yards aren't too soft:eek: Oh and speaking of bad luck, about two weeks ago I had a trailer spring break going down the road at 50 mph:( managed to get stopped and off the road before any major damage occured), last friday, I was running the 50hp tractor on a 30acre b-hog job when the main guard decided to come apart, had to go home and get the torch to cut it apart to keep mowing (on a 9' disk mower) Then monday some gal decides to stop for a left hand turn in front of me (with my mowing rig) and I didn't quite stop in time:cry: Her car was pretty bad, my truck had to remove the bumper there on the spot in order to be able to drive it to finish my day out. my fault got a ticket, man I hate that, haven't had a wreck since highschool.
