View Full Version : Turf Weed Infestation

Hi there,

I landscape professionally in the Vancouver area of British Columbia Canada.

I've got a site that has a fairly invasive turf weed infestation and I'd like to handle it organically, if possible. The site has about 1.25 acres of turf. In terms of dandelions, i've just gone around and gotten most of them with a weed puller, in the high profile areas, but I've got quite a bit of clover and other smaller leaf weeds.

Are there times when you just have to do a herbicide run to knock down the majority of the weeds and then proceed organically from there, or might it be possible to give the site a thorough power-raking and aerating in the fall and overseed?

I'm just looking for some feedback as I've been unable to find a selective, organic herbicide.

Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Fiesta or IronX, sold to the retail market is deadly on dandelions. It will also kill other broadleaves like henbit, ground ivy and chick weed, however in my experience takes a little more persistence.

I am just getting started with my organic program, from my limited experience the IronX works well.

Good luck!

You probably already know this, Evergro in Delta has Fiesta.

We don't have ironx up here. The residential Fiesta
is called Eco sense in this part of Canada.

Fuller? Maple Ridge?

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out Eco-Sense. In looking at the situation closer, it appears the site was topdressed with some inferior material. I'm just guessing by the way the weeds are almost "patterned."
The good news is the customer seems to have faith and patience; two qualities I wish more customers had.
