We hit like somewhere around 88 degrees with a high humidity for a couple days about 2 weeks ago or so. Today it was about 65 degrees for an hour or two and then went back to the upper 50's to around 60, with rain of course.

I had a pic on my old phone of my truck saying 118, but it was a few years ago. I have also seen it just say HOT. I don't think its been very hot here this year. This late july or early august may be a different story.

We have been up to 97 I think, but that was a week or two ago. Today was in the mid 80's.

I don't trust what my truck says. Usually it is a good 30deg + or - from what it actually is.

Hey! You and AZLawnMan don't count! You guys are in the desert, for gosh sakes. Hell, your normal high for today might be 127 for all we know! And when was the last time it rained out there . . 1987?

A Whopping 79 degrees. Where is the heat, oh yeah you guys got it all. Normally we are pushin 90 + but the weather is changing every year. I remember when we always had 2 weeks of 112 in the shade now 2 weeks at 100 per season is tops. I think it's getting cooler here every year, and hotter down south.

I really don't trust a temperature gauge in a truck. It should be taken in the shade, away from any hot objects. Better to check the local weather reading, web, etc.

102, like 80% humidity.

That's what makes it nasty the humidity. The other year my uncle came up from FL it was like high 90s here and like 105-110 there, and he was complaining about how much hotter it felt outside here compared to down there. When i went to Arizona a couple years ago it was 115 and felt like 90 at home.

Man, this weather has been crazy in Southern California. It's been high 70's to mid-80's forever with sunny skies. I think I'll go surfboarding this weekend.:waving:

How is lawn service in Las Vegas? When I was there most of the resi yards were grassless and covered in rocks and dirt because of the mayor's ruling to save water.

106*F at 3pm yesterday, 105*F right now at 3:11pm.
Monday, while I was working below a bulkhead wiring a pump start relay and pump control box my soil thermometer read 124*F. Put it on the ground in the shade of the bulkhead, no air movement to speak of and except for a patch about 8" wide no shade either. Ambient temp was around 105*F.
Didn't sleep to well Monday night either.
Highest I have ever been out in was 113*F several years ago. Worked on a golf course as one of two superintendents and the director of maintenance refused to allow the crews off the course. One of the very few times I drove around pulling guys into shade and hosing them down with a quick coupler.

It's pretty busy considering all the day laborers I see out here driving crappy trucks with crappy lawn mowers! Oh yeah and all the day laborers driving nice trucks with equipment.
There is a pretty good market out here believe it or not, I do mostly foreclosures right now but branching out to get more of my own customers.
The work out here is alot of desert landscaping but it grows like crazy,
People still have lawns ,you just can't build a new house and have a lawn in the front yard.
This is a picture of my front yard which I rehabbed about 7 years ago, before that it was all grass.
My fruitless pear not doing to good can't bear to pull it down yet , it's 22 years old.

98 in the shade(where temps are supposed to be recorded)here in SC now. We have been over 100 a good many times. Very humid. I really don't think about it that much until I see the grass getting scorched:cry:

Regularly maintained palms are easy to trim. Most guys incorrectly prune palms in the first place. The only difficult palms to trim(if you are correctly pruning) are Canary Island Dates. Everything else is cake.

Red ants are the worst. You'll be working on overgrown date palms and next thing you know your hand is covered or their dropping down your shirt.

Upper 90's here recently in Bama, but the humidity is the silent killer. So high that sweating actual makes you hotter due to the fact that it won't evaporate!

We finally had 2 afternoon/nights of rain the past 2 days but we need a week straight of heavy rains to fill lakes back up. We have been a month behind in rain since rainy season started.
