I'm done with my old Partner cut-off saw that I originally bought used.

I'm going to get a new Stihl unit.

My Partner was a 12" and I never minded the smaller machine. I like the smaller, lighter saw to cut pavers in place easier. We do a few SRW's and I just cut both sides of the block when we need cuts.

What are some good reasons to get the 14" 420 over the 12" 410?

Thanks.

this is a no brainer.

always go with the bigger. you can run a 12-inch blade on a 420.

We just got a new Stihl couple months ago. The manager at the place I got it from told me Stihl claims the air filter in the new style of saws can go 12-months without changing.

So far, starts on the 1st or 2nd pull.

I love my Huskey saw more power than the STIHL, and the air cleaner is on the top, in the clean air, not the back where the saw throws the dust.

look at that air sucking in next time you see your saw in action DVS.... I doubt 1 year on that filter.

Other than hard starting on the new one I have only cleaned the filter once on it. They are a workhorse of a saw.

No-brainer. Go with the 420. It takes the 12" and 14" blade and is light enough for the longest cuts. Been using the same two 420's for 5+years.

Yea my dealer says to not clean the filter to much as it lets crap through that will find it's way to the cylinder walls and will scar the walls. Just throwing that tid bit out there.

I believe Stihl got it all figured out :)

perhaps they did. i had a 420, it was stolen, replaced it with the k750.

i prefer the 750.

To each their own.

I have a Partner K750 and a Stihl 420, they are both great saws but I do prefer the Partner. I would for sure get the 14" saw.

I have the 420 and love it, the only thing I can complain on is the fuel consumption, goes real quick on full throttle other wise I love it.
