I am in the process of replacing a retaining wall and stairs. Unfortunately I can't build the stairs into the patio (retaining wall) because it will take away too much space. How do i build them down from the wall, like my old wood ones were?

The wall is going to be 32" tall and my blocks are 7 5⁄8" high x 15 5⁄8" wide x 11 5⁄8" deep

the same way as you would build them "Into" the wall, just in negative.

there is a debate on here about building stairs out of all block or fill each layer.

The process is different when you build out from a wall.

Or give the steps and wall some interest and split the difference. One or two steps outside the wall, and the rest built into the wall. Two steps outside the wall will buy you another 2 feet of patio.

Something like this.

Now there's something you don't see everyday. I like the idea, thanks for sharing!
