Didn't know where to actually post this so I guess you guys get it.
Anybody here ever buy earth worms to help out a clay lawn and garden? If so, what kind did you buy? And do you think they actually worked? What keeps them in the target lawn and not wondering off to greener pastures?

i was learning about this in one of my turfgrass classes the other day. i guess they have been doing this in england for years. from what i understand, you just buy regular earthworms that you buy for fishing bait and let them loose on the lawn. since they tunnel and have to come to the surface to release dumpings, it is very good for the lawn.

my dad bought some worms through the mail several years ago he was dissapointed because they were almost microscopic but they grew quick. Ive always thrown them in the garden after a fishing trip. I have a customer that has a yard full of them and im still trying to convince her that she doesnt need aerating the worms do a great job

Earthworms are excellent for the soil. Go with the mail order route. That will be much cheaper then the ones you buy for fishing. You must however get them on the lawn or in the garden while it is still warm enough for them to burrow into the soil.
