Sweet WRX man ... I've got a 2002 with 271,000 miles on it ... freaking beast ... I put 500lb of tube sand on the back seat in the winter and its unstoppable ... last winter the truck got stuck more times than the subaru ... sick company ... and I love the F450 I never understood people paying for the F550's I hope my company builds to that level someday

I'm a deere fan myself, but I must ask....which do you like better the John Deere diesel mowers or the Hustlers?

ClassicLawnCareInc
07-04-2011, 04:13 PM
Honestly, I like the John Deeres better. They have a bit more power and the drive shaft from the engine to the deck makes it a bit smoother. The main reason I went with the Hustlers was price. The John Deeres were 15k ish we the Hustler Diesels were 10-11k.

I take it you do a lot of wide open mowing?? No 60" walkbehinds? Care to show some of the properties??

I saw one of your trucks in town the other day one of the new white fords, and saw the red dodge in the spring. Do you cut much here, seems like a long drive. I don't think i would go to Saulsbury unless i had alot. How many guys working for you, how long you been in bussness.

We do a mix of open area cutting and not as open cutting. We mainly use the diesels b/c of the lower fuel consumption per hour than a gas mower and b/c when we need the extra tq to cut the thicker grass we have it.

Yup we do cutting all over the Eastern Shore. The red Dodge and White Ford travel just about anywhere.

Is that a trail blazer ss?

ClassicLawnCareInc

Yup, 08 Trailblazr SS AWD, the truck is a Vortec max with the 6.0 V-8 engine and the Subaru is a WRX.

I bought all three of my Hustler Diesels at Bakers Power and Turf in Millsboro DE. The special was 9990$ and 0% for 36 mnths for my first one, 9990$ and 6% for my second and this last one I bought 2 weeks ago was 7% and 11,300$ out the door no tax b/c of DE.

That Cummins powered Ram is the way to go. I have a 5.9 2006 & a 6.7 2009. Are your Fords 6.4's or are they the newer Ford 6.7's? Fords 6.0 was a nightmare for many people the 6.4's were better but Ford still ditched International because the engine still had issues. Some of the older 7.3's had weak powdered metal connecting rods that tended to fail after 200K. Ford has done a great job of making old school Ford guys into Cummins or D-Max fans.

All of my white colored Fords are 6.4 liter diesels, the green Ford is a 5.8 liter gas. Ilove my Dodges and the Fords. I havent had any trouble with either engine.

Nice set-up, I thought Hustler stopped selling diesels a while back. (who makes the motors anyway?) Ever deal with Lyons & Lyons?

They started making these Diesels 2 years ago. The engine is a Shibura Diesel, which is made in a partnership with Perkins in China. Perkins makes Caterpillars small Diesel engines like the one in my Cat skid steer.

No Ive never dealt with Lyons and lyons. Are they any good?

We wash all of our equipment once week.

Are your hustlers 60 66 or 72s. How does Baker treat you, service wise? My next mower WILL be from a different dealer. They aren't alot further than my current dealer.

Mine are all 60 inch decks. And service wise, they are great. They are open 7am-7pm m-f and 7-6 on Sat, and 7-5 on Sunday. They keep a lot of parts in stock and they take me in right away when I have any repairs needs. Over all Im very happy.

Lyons had a big Hustler sales territory at one time. Next time you see your dealer ask him about Lyons...they seemed OK. I think Ford uses Shibura diesel too.

you got baggers for those deeres?

ClassicLawnCareInc
07-17-2011, 10:52 PM
Yes we use the Accelorator alum baggers I have two JD's with them and one hustler.

Great setup, very professional. Do you ever have problems with the weight of the diesels?

ClassicLawnCareInc
07-18-2011, 02:27 PM
Nah I don't really have any problems with the weight. From my experiance if the lawn is wet enough leaves ruts, a gas engine or diesel engine mower will do it. I looked into the weights and the hustler only weighs about 150 lbs more than the same mower with a gas engine. The John Deere mower does weigh about 250 lbs more but we use them for residential lawns and it does fine.
