Took the pics on a cloudy day. The customer is due for hedge trimming as you can see in the pics and he's going to be asking me to do it real soon because its starting to get out of hand. Just did a hedge trimming and a mulch job on his rental house will post pics of that soon.

its gotta be my favorite house to maintain. The landscape designer who did all the work before the current owner moved in did a great job I got to say, everything flows so nicely

Im being serious. If you honestly think that lawn looked good after you left it, you need to start looking for another job.

Send me a link of your work then cause yours better look like a carpet with all your cockyness, and if your referring to the stripes not be straight the property is bumpy and has dents in the ground as you can see in the pics and its hard to get good stripes with a scag with a veleke on that terrain. This is a side job, going to college for pre-med this isn't going to be my career. And If you feel accomplished being a complete jerk then good for you

Im referring to the fact that you dont seem to have any rhyme or reason when mowing, it looks like you just drove in circles.

THEGOLDPRO

Its clear that for some reason you kept mowing in the same direction for like 5-6 lines as opposed to going up and down every other line like your supposed to do when your trying to stripe a lawn.

But see i would have much appreciated that you gave me that picture and said hey bud why don't you try this instead of being flat out mean. Thank you for the advice, -nick

Even if the guy told me to not put any effort into mowing the back i would make it look the same as the front, No matter what job i do, i do it right or not at all. you need to take pride in your work even if the customer doesn't care. And people will notice the extra effort in the end.

x2 the property looks amazing but the lawn looks like crap. it doesn't matter how many holes, dips, bumps, hills, imperfections the lawn may have there's no excuse to have it looking like that, its actually alot quicker to cut in lines, going back and forth whatever direction you may choose, then going in a circle, or going 1 way. If someone told me to cut something and not put any effort in, they might see a few grass clippings on the lawn, not clumps of grass, but just clippings.

Looks Good, but when you stripe only go up once and then turn around and come back the down right next to the previous cut it will look a lot better or maybe your just overlapping to much, i dont know that much just trying to help you out.:walking:

EDIT: I am Wrong it only looks like you are going the same way twice because if the sulky what ever its called, you will get better keep trying ;)

Two shrub installations and mulching. I offer to take tags off but both said no because they want to research them. They both liked the installation so much that they want me for weekly lawn maintenance

no heres the problem the bagger on the scag hangs really low to the ground. So when i pass and make the stripe and come back the other way the bagger scapes the ground and makes the stripe i just made go the other way. On all those cuts I went up and then right back down. Do you get what I am saying?

I Think a partial blame is on my scag. Look at what I responded above and see if you understand what I am saying and have any tips on how i could fix that.

I dunno man, it looks rough lol, I could see bagging the front yard but i would never bag that back yard i would just discharge it and save some time.

nick2765
07-10-2011, 08:01 PM
I mean bagging it isn't bad at all it only fills up half the canister. I couldnt figure out at first why it wasn't striping. Every time i striped and started to come back the other way the bagger would unstripe it making the appearance that I only went one way the whole time. Ughhh im just getting fustrated. Hopefully when I get my Wright Stander the cuts will look better

If it were me, I would take the bagger off and dont use the sulkie next time and see how well it stripes, also make sure to double cut it to make the stripe stand out more.

I see weeds in driveways and sidewalks overgrown ornamental's and grass that is on the verge of being scalped.

How can you guys get away with all that? Is stripes the only thing that matters up north?

I can see where your coming from looking at the pics. It does appear short but it actually is really high in my opinion. Im thinking about lowering the deck height to see if that will produce better stripes

Nick,

I think the lawn looked OK.. As long as the customer is happy with the work you do, then don't worry about what they say on here!

Keep up the good work!:)

I agree!, and when they scalp the grass it looks ''white'' instead of green.

How can you guys get away with all that? Is stripes the only thing that matters up north?

It appears that stripes is all they worry about!, and some have to ''double-cut'' a lawn just to get stripes.:dizzy:... Makes no sense to me.

Nick. If you would like some suggestions on how to set you deck and improve you striping you can pm me. It takes some adjustments and practice but you will get it. I live in the same area so I figured I might be able to help.

And honestly guys, half of the lawns in this area look like that if not worse. Most of my customers don't care about the stripes, they just care about the length of the grass. If it gets cut, they are happy. I only stripe to make me happy and set myself apart from the rest.
