I have an inside 8-5 job that pays around 55K per year. I have always wanted to own my own business and not afraid of hard work. I enjoy lawn care very much. My question would be is this industry lucrative enough to think about leaving a fairly decent paying job to do something I love? I know I wouldn't quit immediately and it would probably take at least 1 to 2 years to build up the client base where I could leave my current job.....any thoughts or advice?

If you can get into a niche market then deffinetly yes. When I got back into this end of the business a few yers ago I concentrated on Irrigation, Landscape lighting, and Fert. Now we do basically everything except weekly maintenance (mowing) and spring/fall cleanups. Because we are offering specialized services I can charge top dollar. Deffinetly don't just upright and quite. Start building your business up part time. Even if you build it up large and think you can start full time next year I wouldn't, you may find that it isn't for you or may hit some set backs in the business. I would just start small picking and choosing your clients for the first year atleast. Also this way if you realize this isn't for you your full time gig will still be there
