Both of my mowers are coming up due for an oil change. What type if oil do I need to run in this engine? I was told by my dealer he would run Castrol SAE HD 30wt.

You can use anything you like, But..... As long as you use what the OEM's recommend, They should know what's best for their engines.

10 30 castrol is what we normally use too. There is a few guys that run amsoil 10 30 for a little more. Opti 4 claims they double the warranty of your engine if you start with it and use it exclusivly. I am looking into it to make sure, but if they double the vanguard warranty, it would mean a 6 year warranty on all internal engine parts! Might be the best way to go...
