Scag Turf Tiger w/ Kawasaki 22.0 FD661D went to full throttle with no warning- is that a Governor issue?
I ask b/c had it happen once on an old cub cadet and I just about fell off backwards when it took off full speed while mowing. :dizzy:
With this mower, I had disengaged the deck and was moving to another area when it revved and I could not adjust it with the throttle lever.
I don't know how to adjust the governor, if that turns out to be the issue, and I don't have a service manual for the engine. But I think I can work through the disassembling of the engine, checking governor springs, etc...but adjusting the governor, not familiar with that area. Any help would be appreciated.

You can check everything and try adjusting, But it sounds like something gave out.....

Appreciate the info- Your phrase "something gave out" has me thinkin that perhaps not the governor? Other possibilities? I think I'll sleep on it....Thanks for your help!:)

Sorry, It was late and I was running on fumes. "Something gave out" internally not externally.....

Have found my problem- governor assembly-in pieces, oil pump gear gone too- When researching- the Governor assembly is listed as: OBSOLETE- No longer available- So here I am- asking for help! Where oh where to look for parts?
New-used- desperate-grass is growing!

Any suggestions or links will be appreciated!

You didn't post the spec number off your engine, I looked up a random spec and came up with these. But your engine spec number should be used to assure the right parts are ordered.

Thanks for the info- I can't find the spec number. All I can find is the number on the housing FD620D and the # on the air cleaner cover- 22.0 FD621D. I have called a couple online parts warehouses, and they ask me the same thing- what are the other numbers, there should be more numbers AS00, ES***, or something similar....Any hint where I can find that? Just shooting in the dark to order parts without those last few digits- eventhough my research has found that many of the same part numbers may be used in different model applications.
The grass is still growing....my ol stand by mower is eating up my daylight hours- helf speed and guzzlin gas!

This is all very true, but did you manage to stay atop the bucking machine for a full eight seconds?
