Have an older fs90. used but maintained. was clearing an area with it today and it just died. Tried but couldnt get it restarted. had to get back up echo to finish job....what fun.

Since I got home things I have to done to try and start are....
New plug... and checked yes I am getting a spark
New fuel filter
Cleaned exhaust filter
Starter fluid wont even get her to putter

Would rather not have to take into repair shop I have larger jobs lined up and depend on WW to do its job.

Any help Please and Thank You

I would try cleaning the carb I have one of my stihl trimmers that I have to tear down at least twice a month. When the carb is cleaned runs fine for a while.

when you have your issues will the machine go from running full throttle to just dead? or would it gradually run worse and worse? Mine went from wide open to dead. Sprayed starter fluid into spark plug hole and tried to start w/ not even a sputter. Wouldnt going thru spark plug bypass the carb

It should try and hit. Make sure you still have good compression. Be careful with starting fluid don't want to wash cylinder down. If the spark is not hot enough it will not hit either. These can be a pain to deal with.

Pull the muffler and look at the piston for scoring. You might have had it go lean and score the piston.

adjusted low speed on carb and started right up. although this cause alot of down time and was a pita. not having to pay to drive to repair shop, pay for adjustment, pay to drive home is great. research, time, and help from forums like this made this a free pita success.... thank you
