Scag cougar for sale. It is a 2001 model with 2500 hours. 27 hp Liquid Cooled Kawi with a 52" deck. It runs decent but could use a good carb cleaning. Good compression. Previous owner told me the engine was rebuilt at 2000 hours. The only major problem is that it needs a new gearbox. I believe that it needs the upper t- drive gearbox.

Im asking $900. But I would like it gone so make me an offer.

I will trade for an aerator, power rake, power pruner, 18"+ chainsaw, or dual axle open trailer.

Let me know what you have and I can trade the mower plus cash it needed.

You said it needs an "upper t gearbox", whats that? PITA to repair?

I'm willing to drive to pick it up...This is exactly what I'm looking for...and the right color.

Well basically, the blades dont turn right now. The mower has 2 gearboxes that power the deck. The upper one powers both the blower and the shaft which powers the mower deck. Then there is a gearbox at the deck that powers a belt which spins the blades. One of the gearboxes is bad. I have a feeling that it is the upper one. The part is called a t drive gearbox because it has an input and two outputs in the shape of a t. A rebuild kit is available or you can replace the part.

So the blower isn't running right now either, I'm assuming.

Lemme look into this, and I will get back to you. I definitely am interested though.

Yeah the blower isnt running now either. If you remove the belts everything turns freely and smoothly.

Let me know if you are interested.

I bought it as a project so I dont know how well this one cuts but I have used others and they cut/ bag well. They are beasts in leaves because they have a good sized chute and blower. The deck has the capability to switch to mulching or side discharge with addition/ removal of baffles.

I've used one for seven years probably about the same year model as the one here. The engine was shot and I put in a 25 hp Kohler. They are good mowers. One big consideration is the condition of the blower fan. Mine was pretty much worn out after only 1000 hours... but, I use it for mostly leaves and tend to pick up a lot of dirt, which wears out the fan.

Thanks but it moved on to its new owner who plans to just rebuild the existing ones.
