Hi, can anyone tell me the part number I need to replace the drive belt on my old Ferris Hydrowalk Dualdrive 52, serial number: DDS61BVE 921, Engine number 350777 Briggs & Stratton 18hp engine? I recently bought a belt with part number 5022173 which seems to be too long by approximately 3-4" as I cannot get the belt to tighten. Thanks for any help..

Here's the parts manual, You can identify which belt you need; https://cny-minutemanpress.presencehost.net/file_download/inline/1b2d1348-9814-3039-922d-09ba948c692f

Make sure your routing it correctly.....

Hi, thanks for the link. The parts manual confirms that the part I have seems to be the correct number. I cannot see a different way of routing the belt as I have followed the diagram for my mower. Is there a way of adjusting the tensioning spring? Are there different length belts for 52" mowers? Thanks again.

Question time;

It's the hydro drive belt giving the issue right ?

Do you have the old belt to compare length to the new one ?

Do you have two hydro pumps and two idler pulleys in this system or single hydro transaxle and one idler pulley ?

If two idler pulleys are they both the same size and height ?

It's possible someone replaced the idlers with "will work parts" and put the wrong belt on to account for it.

To answer your question; I only see the one belt number listed that your trying to install, It should measure 1/2" wide 63" in length. That same number fits the CC models as well. Both the engine and hydros mount in one place on the frame, I would be checking new belt length (could be packaged wrong) idler pulleys and tension arm for free movement then tension spring for weakness/being stretched.

With the spring off can you move the idler arm over far enough to get tension on the belt ?

This is about as far as I can go without being able to lay eyes on this thing.......

The part number you need is 5021427. Its about 62.5" or so. Part number 5022173 is used on serial numbers 1233 and up I believe and is about 66.5" long.

Actually your model number says to use 5021427 in partsmart so your manual must be for a different serial number range or something.

Ferris model numbering and parts lookup leaves a bit to be desired...and when I say bit I mean a huge heaping pile.

Ran into the same problem, ended up using a 1/2 x 63" belt. The Ferris belt was almost 4" too long. Have fun putting it on:dizzy:

Hi all, yes you are right, my machine is and earlier model which does use the shorter belt and hence different part number. I have phoned the supplier who is now sending the correct one. And yes, I'm not looking forward to putting it on! Thanks for all the help guys. Regards, Phil
