I just bought a used Billygoat from a guy who didn't know what he had. Got it fot 100.00. Anyway, the bag ripped on the bottom from draging on the ground. I patched it but was wondering what new bags went for. Anybody know where I could pick one up on the cheap side. Also this unit has a port in the front for a hose. I looked up the hose kit but it sells for 120.00. (they dont sell bags). Anybody know how to rig one. It looks like about a 4" opening in the port. If you use the port, do you need to put a plate over the vacuum opening?

Bags should be readily avail at any Billygoat dealer. Be sure and get a couple extra liners for the new bag. It they will help protect the bag. Yes, there is a plate that clamps over the vacuum opening so all the suction is through the hose. It should come with the hose "kit".:)

Bags run 90-110 depending on dealer. Get the heavy felt bags, worth the extra $. Tried one of the cloth(different brand) at about $85, didn't like it.
I didn't buy the hose set up because it didn't seem practical but-
On the hose set up there is a plate that goes over the opening on the bottom of the vac to give suction at the hose. I suppose you could build one, but for $120?

The Billy Goat bags are quite expensive. We have two units which we use on small yards only. Last year we bought two bags on ebay for around $48.00. When we bought them for retail they ran around $110.00 Make sure the handles on the vacumm are not bent since they will cause the bag to wear from dragging on the ground. The newer bags do not have the extra lining on the bottom, so are prone to wear quicker. We also had two zipper failures on the bags even though the bags were not worn out. So.... now we are careful when we zip the bags. We have a hose attachment on a troybuilt machine someone gave us similar to the Billy Goat system and found the hose to clog easily. It is quicker to use a blower to get the hard to reach places. Just my two cents worth.

Good luck with the machine. We got both of ours for a $100.00 as well.
