I have an old Scag 32 with a 14hp Briggs and statton vanguard. When you pull the starter rope the whole thing seizes up and you end up pulling the whole machine. The recoil broke because of this, and the problem still occurs with a brand new starter recoil. I couldn't tell if it the the started assembly or the motor that was seizing. I took the starter assembly off and put it back on, still seizing up on occasion. When I take the spark plug out, the rope pulls out smoothly with no seizing. Some part of the engine must be sezing then, right?
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks
