Peter is on his way over. I guess he was on the coast this morning and is driving over to my house now.

I have Bass Ale on ice and the BBQ ready. Thinking chicken and tons of garden fresh tomatoes and basil.

The freaky thing is that there is a thunder storm here right now. I can't remember the last time we had a thunder storm in September. I will post some pics.

Thunderstorms? Weird. Last time I was around there, it was in January, and I was zipping around from winery to winery in search of zinfandel.

I can hear it now, Peter teaching the kids "The eyes of Texas are upon you" around the rain-soaked campfire.

Posted via Mobile DeviceNo idea about the Stockton area - never thought of anything near to Interstate 5 as being good for growing wine grapes. Anything in San Francisco proper is probably after my time visiting. Going south, you will be into the Santa Cruz mountains, and there is great stuff there (and priced accordingly (http://www.princeofpinot.com/article/638/)) ~ if you could only visit one, then it would be Ridge Vineyards (http://www.ridgewine.com/vineyards/monte_bello_vineyard.tml) - half a century of top-notch production.

More convenient to the Coast Highway, is the town of Soquel. Some Santa Cruz wineries have tasting rooms there.

The constant pumping. Hauling that tank around is one of the best camping decisions I made. The manifold will allow me to run three gas items with plenty of pressure and no fear of running out of fuel. When I get up at 5am and crank that baby on you can just feel the FUs coming from every tent.

Glad you guys had a fun visit.

Kind of short notice but to the guys in/around/near Austin come on out to Spicewood on Saturday the 17th. I am driving in my department's (Spicewood VFD) annual demolition derby.

No, I am not running my ex-wife's Jag, but a real detroit dinosaur, a 1976 4dr caddy. Got the old car screaming louder than my ex during the tasing.

Gates open at 4pm, event starts around 6pm. $7 to get in, byob but the department has a $5 cooler fee. Food is available from the Lions Club (I am also a member too) mostly comprised of BBQ type stuff. Dude doing the cooking knows BBQ so it should be alright.

I'll post a picture of the car some time later. Additional info is available at the department's website - google Spicewood VFD and it will provide the link. I have no idea what the web site is, I'm just a hose monkey, not a 'puter whiz.

we had time to screw around wih the TDR and then pete calabrated his moisture sensor, he demonstrated the proper technique for sneaking up on and taking a sample. poor ol' beau was worn out playing with argos' stella and was very slow moving when i saw him.

i hope that pete has a great trip, i look forwards to seeing him again

Pete and Beau stopped by for a short visit today on their way from north of SF to Pismo Beach. Wish we could have spent more time together, but after lunch at a Mexican seafood joint (http://www.yelp.com/biz/dia-de-pesca-san-jose) he was on his way to get there before dark.

San Jose is beautiful place. I made quick friends with two people at the dog park. I really enjoyed central CA. I'm beginning to understand the strong attraction CA has. When I drove south to the beach the temp got up to 103 but as I turned toward the coastline it had dropped to 63 with heavy fog. The state is dramatic to say the least.
