View Full Version : Irrigation question.

I've been doing lawn maintenance for a few years now part time and have the client base to jump into full time at the beginning of next season. One question I consistently get asked is "Do you also do irrigation?" Obviously that is a good sign so I'm going to go ahead and get a license for it to expand my business in Texas. I was wondering if there is a study at home class I could take that may be cheaper than the 40 hour class. Ive searched and didn't find anything, so in a last ditch effort I figured I'd ask you guys and gals. Thanks in advance, Jeff.

Short answer - No.
The state of Texas allows no self study or previous experience or college degrees in lieu of attendance at a 40hr class prior to sitting for the test.
So, if you want to get licensed you have to pony up the dough for the class then the exam.

Here's the TCEQ link (http://www.tceq.texas.gov/licensing/licenses/lilic#license1) regarding irrigation licensing.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Looks like I'll be doing that this winter.
