MR-16 Pathlights

A while back there was considerable discussion about using MR-16 lamps in large-scale pathlights and arealights. I recall some thoughts and opinions on this, but did not see any stories of completed projects where others tried and succeeded. One issue is the heat created by conventional MR-16 lamps within a small airspace under the fixture top.

I would like to hear from the lighting veterans on the forum what fixtures they have used with this change of lamp, and the results. Thanks!

All of that being said, I am still a big fan of the MR16 Path/Spread fixture concept and hope to be scratching out some designs soon which might actually make it into production some day. In the mean time, look for better quality fixtures from Gambino, Winona, Sundown, and you can ask SPJ about them too, just be sure to use fixtures that are appropriately listed for the application.
