Well, it's almost 1 year to the day that we last did "What did you purchase this year? What's in line for next?"

[URL=http://207.44.158.62/~admin2/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21603]

So, what will it be?

My first year out:

Exmark 32" Metro
pro-slide
Grass gobbler
Exmark mulching kit
Gator magnum's
Redmax 7001 blower
16*7 trailer
Woods 1250 Mow-N-Machine 44" (used)
set of Carlise Turf Masters for the Woods
trimmer-rack system
installed my own "E-Z" Gate system homemade
one passenger car window I broke while trimming. Woops!
assorted hand tools

Think that's about it...

Next year would *LOVE* to get a 52" LazerHp or Turf Tracer... That would really be my one and only purchase...

Enjoy!
Gary

This topic sounds familiar ;)

Nothing major for me this year.. Had to save our pennies for the new house :)

The Director, 15 gal sprayer and an Echo trimmer.

Next spring I hope to purchase a compact tractor with loader.. probably Kubota BX2200.

Here is what I wrote last year:

For next year I will continue my quest for the perfect self-propelled side discharge mower. I will also be buying either an Echo PB650 or the Shindy/Redmax equivalent and paying off my Exmark Metro 36.

I never did find the perfect self-propelled side discharge mower so I settled for a MTD. It does pretty well. I also got a Stihl BR420 instead of the Echo/Shindy/Redmax. I paid off the Exmark last month.

Other than that all I bought was regular maintenance stuff.

Next year I may buy a new 15 hp Kohler to replace the getting tired Kawasaki on my Exmark. The Kawi was originally on my 50" Gravely which I no longer have. I will also probably be getting a new trimmer.

Since I had a little trouble finding the thread from last year using the above link I put the link here too.

Last year's thread (http://207.44.158.62/~admin2/showthread.php?threadid=21603&highlight=purchase+next+year)

When I started the season, here's what I had---Lesco 36in 14hp gear drive WB w/jungle wheels and grass gobbler; Ariens pro 21in; Echo PB2100 blower; Echo CRM2100 trimmer w/edgit; Echo hedge trimmer; Lesco push fert. spreader w/remote side shield; A.M. Leonard push sprayer; Lesco backpack sprayer; 35 gal holding tank; and a 2-place trimmer trap. I carry it all on a 5 X 8 trailer from Menard's. And A 77GMC 15 "trailering special".

What I spent$$ on this season was---losts of repairs on the 77GMC
 :(

An EFCO handheld blower/vac. Some belts, blades, and bushings for the Lesco mower. A couple hand-pump sprayers. A BIG truck tool box. A couple rakes. An old Kees power rake w/a new Tekuhmse(?sp) engine. A Huskee(TSC) 18hp "lawn tractor" and several attatchments for the sleav hitch(plow, box/blade, disk, toolbar, trailer).

And most recently a 96 F150 4x4 XLT, reg cab, 6cyl 5sp.:D :D
plus today new u-joints and brakes for above:mad: :blob2:

That's about it.

Flex-Deck
12-15-2002, 11:30 PM
Just purchased a 38" JD deck to add to the right front corner of my JD 455 that will be self powered and flex up and down both fore-aft and lateral via 1-7/8" ball and hitch recievers and a 17HP Kawasaki engine to run it - Now with the 18" added by the Flex-Deck on the Left, - the 60" main deck in the middle and the 38" on the right (Only 35 added inches since there needs to be some over lap) I will have 113" swath - Have a bunch of 6 acre areas - a 19 acre area and a 17 acre area coming up next yr.

The unit would chart out 100% at 12 acres an hour, but we all know that in reality with turns etc 70% is more realistic if not still optomistic - I am counting on the 66% rule and 8 acres is the number I am using for all bidding. Will take a pic when done.

Thanks, Brad

Man, little things thrill me!! :)

Just got my latest issue of TURF! Magazine.

Flipped to the back where the lawnsite is quoted from.. I look over the title and think to myself "HEY!! I started that thread!! COOL!":)

And sure enough, I re-surfaced this thread from 2001 to revise it for 2002 and put the first post out.. I showed my wife. She could of course care less, but I now consider myself a published author. <G>

If anyone wants an autographed copy of Turf, send the magazine along with $20 and I'll get it back to you as soon as possible.

My newest investment is a RedMax EB 7001. This blower teamed up with my old EB7000 produces a killer punch for leaf clean up. The best 400 plus bucks spent this year. And yes the 7001 blowers harder.:dizzy:

Last year we just kept the stuff we had and kept it running, so basically... parts :) We did buy an additional Shindaiwa EB630 when the price finally came down last summer. I used to buy stuff all the time and keep a fresh supply of small equipment. About two years ago we bought about 7 pieces of Shindaiwa equipment before they put their foot down on mail order sales. About that time the local dealers stopped the deals too. People around here want full list for the stuff, so I just keep what I have now  Amazing how that works. Give me a decent price and I buy the hell out of the product...sell to me for list and I buy next to nothing. Oh well...Shindaiwa's decision, they must know what they are doing  From the tear we went on buying equipment for a couple years, last year was quite a change. Good thing it's a good product.

This year I hope to buy a new 60" Lazer. I can't depend on the 4 year old Y/K ZTMax to be trouble free another year :o I wanted a new truck, but that's going to have to wait. I just put a new engine and trans in my 95 F150, so it should (big should) be good to go for a while.
