Mobil 1 20w50 full synthetic. Everything from the 3.5 briggs to the dodge diesel. Never an oil related problem in decades. Run it in the hydros too.

use what your manufacturer recommends.

Oh, guess I took the question too literally. I used to use Kohler straight 30 weight then had a hard time getting that so went to Honda. Now I just use Quaker State straight 30 if I can get it, 10W 30 if not. I don't worry about it too much, I change the oil and filter about every 50 hours. The only thing I use synthetic in is my truck.

Pennzoil 10w30 at 150 hour intervals. I've had my oil tested and it's fine.

Mobil One 10-30 in my Kohler. Used motor oil from my truck is saved for everything else. I get 12qts everytime I drain the oil from my 7.3 IDI so I top of my 21 inch mower with it and use whats left for fuel in my truck. I recycle and should get a medal.

is synthetic better than conventional?

Depends on the application and when used. You want to break in an engine with conventional oil.

Some believe in this theory...some don't (mercedes & BMW) come with synthetic oil from factory.

30 wt and change oil and filter every 40 hours. As long as you are changing the oil change the filter otherwise its like turning your scivies inside out.

Very true but I would expect that from an overpriced car!

SAE 30 in the cheapest brand available.

The 21" mowers get one oil change at the beginning of the season then get periodically topped off with marvel mystery oil as they burn oil.

The Walker gets changed every 100 hours. Filter and all.

I changed from B&S 4 cycle oil to Lowe's EcoTech 5W30 Full Synthetic this summer and I don't have any more issues with the mowers getting hot when knocking down 3 foot tall bank owned lawns. They would get hot and not want to restart if they were shut down. Switched to a full synthetic and they love it.

That's where synthetics shine. When an oil is pushed past normal thermal and physical loads.
