I seeded a customer's lawn 3 1/2 weeks ago with the understanding fall is the best time to seed KBG, now it's popping up in neat little rows about 2 inches high most areas... how long does it need to be established to withstand the winter? When should I hit it with it's first nitrogen feeding? Thanks all!

I like my seedlings to have 6 to 8 weeks. If you put down a starter fert then you should be good to go until spring. I wouldn't want to get the seedlings all pumped up and then have a frost hit them. Did you do a soil sample?

Lack of fertilizer doesn't kill seedlings... be sure that there is plenty of moisture deep in the ground right up to the moment that the ground freezes... I would use winterizer as opposed to 'starter', but putting down a layer of compost would be best of all....
