now everyone here has to admit it, they have wondered if anyone ever drove across the country on a lawn mower. well these guys did

i sure wouldn't be doing it on a craftsman but this is still pretty cool. he said it was more than 400 hours and 3 months, and the mower still ran, good job on the engine kohler. commercial zero turns die at about 3000-4000 hours so we could do this in 2 months (faster ground speed) then come back home and cut grass for a few more years

I'd HATE to be the guy driving the truck at 7mph all day.

Someone was crossing the country in a horse drawn homemade camper. Went by our house and he stayed the night south of us. Started to keep track of him, He got somewhere south Kentucky or Tenn and got hit by a semi. Killed one or two of his horses. Just like him its just not to safe to do things like that anymore. To many people not paying attention and playing on their phones.

I'd drive across the country...I'd just have to find the time.

But there would be no way in hell that I'd do it on a crapsman. I'll take my deere and do it...put a few luxuries on the mower and set out.

Its roughly a 2800 mile trip from Los Angeles to New York, at 13mph that my JD travels it would take roughly 215 hours to drive that distance. If I could drive 12 hours a day, I could be done in 17 days. I'm thinking we need to start thinking about creating a lawnsite cross-country tour.

hate when people get distracted when they drive, my dad almost got hit 2 years ago.
brad if i was to ever do that it would be on this beast http://www.deere.com/wps/dcom/en_US/products/equipment/riding_mowers/lawn_tractors/select_series_x700/x748/x748.page?
with a 7 iron of course! this way i wouldn't have to deal with try to keep the zero turn straight. keep the wheel straight and relax, love deere tractors

I did it round trip in a truck and it takes about 3 10 hour days. Never would want to do it on a mower though.

Back in the 80's, there was an elderly gentleman in poor health who drove his JD garden tractor across Iowa and into Wisconsin, to visit his sick brother. The man's name was Alvin Straight. They later made a movie based on his trip called "Straight Story". It is a great movie, and very touching.
I think it took him about a couple of months, and, he pulled a homemade trailer with his gear in it.
