Well I was praying for rain awhile back. In the last month we have gotten plenty of it here in SC. Over 6" at one time one night. I have been rained on just about everyday this week. I love it. August and September have to be very big months to make up for the loses so far. The way its going sofar I should be able make up for some lost time. Big storm out there now. Hows the weather everywhere else?
Told ya! Sorry you had to wait 2 months.

Charles,
I'm in East Tennessee, and we have been getting some pretty good rain here for the past few weeks. Before that, it was hot and dry and the yards were starting to burn. I just finished up a customer's yard about 30 min ago, and about 10 min after i blew off the driveway and porch, here came the rains. It's still sprinkling out now.
The yards have been really thick and growing fast, good for business! Luckily on the days we've had rain, they haven't been total washouts for the day. So mowing isn't a problem if you give the grass a little time to dry out.
Tim :)

Good to hear your dry conditions have been rained on Charles.
Im thinking the conditions in SC are opposite of here in MN. I have skipped several of my customers this week from dry conditions. It is nice to have a break. First full weekend off this season for me, and Im spending my time catching up here at LawnSite.

We have been unable to cut much this week but hope to get started next week. Saturday has been the first day with out a major rain for awhile in Eastern, NC.
I was out checking lawns today sinking in a couple of inches just walking, in some of them.

It has rained almost every day here in Virginia Beach Virginia for the past 14 days or so......IT IS KILLING ME! All of my customers pay the same every month so it doesn't bother my income but after not cutting some for 2 weeks I think that that they may feel they aren't getting they're money's worth. No one has called and I am lucky to have the customers I have, I just almost feel bad that their properties are getting out of hand. And I know it will take longer to service each account when I do take care of them. Does any one else bill in equal installments throughout the year?

I just been cutting the rain. Either way if you don't cut there is going to be an even bigger mess when you do. I just set the blades higher and go over the bad spots a few times.

You cant really double cut in the rain because the wheels of you mower will push the grass down too much... when it wet ussually just go over it once and use my back pack blower to spred out wheres theres alot of clippings.

Wayne,
I bill in equal installments year around, so you're not alone. During El Nino a couple years back, I cut some lawns only once in a month but collected full pay. A good customer can see that it's raining every day and that the cut must simply wait, and see as well the extra time it takes you to make that up.
A bad customer can find another service. ;)

here in St Louis we have had alot of rain. About a month ago there was a 2 week period that we had a storm everyday. The rain is only every couple days now and the temps have been cool so the lawns are growing perfect. Have not skipped a single lawn yet except when too wet to mow.
great profit this season.
