I just got destroyed on my first large project because i didnt have the right type of paperwork signed... talked to a lawyer and he says i cant take him to court because i have nothing to back me up. I have been doing small installs for years but now i am moving into hardscaping and full yard overhauls. Im just did a 5 week project and made $1200, so i really dont want to do that again lol..

get contracts made up and just change the scope of work and material prices for each job that you do. and put a clause in their that states the materials and labor prices are subject to change

this is out of a contract book that i have and under the terms put some reasons why the price could change, etc. payment terms and so on.

I use excell on large jobs. Also a formula I made to ensure profit. Knowing your overhead and labor is a good start....
