There are a few companies that import these to the US. I have seen some old swiss army surplus unimogs on ebay for 8000-10000 before. They are pretty cool.

I remember JI Case marketed a couple of models in the '70s, but they never really took off.

Here's a US site for used ones:

They could be bought through select Frieghtliner dealers, not sure if still true. I did see some at the Salt Lake City Freightliner shop back on 2005.

They left the US because of the latest emissions standards.

I've wanted to buy one for a while. I didn't have a use for one until a couple years ago, and by then, the used units were more than they were new.

Rosenbauer had an unregistered 4 door they imported to build a fire truck on, and would not budge on the price.

freightliner uses mercedes benz credit ,so it makes sense they can get them through those channels .

Yes you can buy them used here, they make all sorts of attachments for it too. Basically its a tractor that you can drive around, it was made so farmers would have to leave their equipment in the fields. Fyi they are slow and go around 55mph and will make you deaf if you go that fast. Make awesome plow trucks! You can even buy a backhoe attachment for it.
