Those shelves on the front wall look great. I really need something like that, get some of the clutter up off the floor by the side door. The tool box is a great idea too. I've been looking at Sears to put some good size rolling boxes on sale so I can get my expensive tools in something other than a cardboard box.
Looks great, you've given my some ideas.
What kind of paint did you use on the floor and ramp of the trailer?

I am also one of the may "Cutting Edge" people out there.
Oddly enough I also run 2 red dodge 1 ton trucks just like yours.
I also have a JD wb (ithink i see one at the frtont of the trailer)
Nice set up though I hope to have enclosed trailers next year.

yeah, it took alot of work, and some stuff is starting to fall apart from a hard season as you can tell from the pics, but one more week and it will be time to fix everything up again for next year cause the season is ending quick.. Feel free to ask questions if you want. see ya.

im not sure what kind it is but i went to lowes and asked for some green colored stain, and some white stain for the walls, to brighten it up inside, they said the stain will soak into the plywood floors and walls and keep in from rotting quickly.

Nice set up ...Like the gridiron racks too, I use em as well they rule.....
I went to sherwin williams and got a floor enamel and had sand mixed into it.. It makes for great traction when wet and seals the wood from water getting into it.. Last s like 2 to 3 seasons and then a little touch up is needed , but not to bad... like $40 a gallon though..

the set up looks awesome. Does the Dodge have a dump bed? and If so what do you use it for.

If you are thinking about painting the floor of you trailer, why not have it sprayed with Line-X (the spray in bed liner). They have a great warrenty and different colors. I also have a friend that has a deck sprayed with it and it works great. The floor of the deck in the roof of the first floor and he has not had a leak in the 3 it has had Line-X on it.Just a thought.

I have Line-X sprayed on the floor, ramp and 1' up on the walls of my enclosed trailer. I have an 8x24 and it was $1200 to get this done, I'm really happy with the results though. Clean up is a snap, and the floor is never slippery. Plus I NEVER have to worry about the plywood floor rotting.

thanks for all the responses guys.. i will answer some questions that came in,,.. The truck has a crysteel 8ft tipper with fold down sides...electric over hydralic. I use the dump for minor landscaping like stone, soil, mulch, plants, grass clippings.. I mulch leaves in the fall so i dont use it for leaves. I have about $18,000 in the truck.. The trailer cost me $3,850, and is a 8.5 x16 halmark.. I think it is best to get the widest you can. As far as the flooring goes,, i might look into that stain with sand in it for traction and also the spray in stuff, sounds nice.

awesome setup, i love the outside of your trailer, very nice design and great advertising. i think the bedliner stuff would be better then stain with sand.

Very nice setup! That's one great thing about the enclosed trailer, - is the advertisement. What king of plow setup do you run on that? (those).

Nice setup fastrunner. IM looking into getting a enclosed trailer and getting a F350 Dumper someday soon. I like the trailer size, not to big nor to small. Nice lettering also, and sounds like that LINE-X stuff would be your best bet, i know a dealer near me that i bet they would do it. Otherwise put some sand paint down on the floor to give traction if your looking to go the cheap way.
Nice setup. :D

Very nice! I have a similar set-up, except my Haulmark is only 7 ft wide. :( I think I'll take some pics of it some day soon, when I get around to it. LOL First, I have to fix my front shelves ... they keep breaking loose. I like how you have yours put in, mine are on those shelf racks, the kind that screw into the wall. Bad move.

fastrunner, I was wondering how you like the stihl stick edger. I was think about buying one, is it any quicker than using a string trimmer.

Took some pics today after all. Here's the inside view. Missing from this pic is the tiger cub ... you wouldn't be able to see anything if it were in there. Everything is anchored to keep it from shifting around.

Hows that 24' trailer get around in the city, the more I've been thinking about it I may go with a enclosed trailer. It has to be better than, backing into polebarn and unhooking the trailer every nite, the reason i do that is because truck/trailer is about 4-5' too long for building, should have went w/40x60 LOL

Got another ?, do most of you guys w/enclosed trailers buy like trimmer and blower rack made for enclosed, or just make some brackets?, I will probably make my own, if I go that route.

Do you guys with enclosed trailers have an extra trailer for hauling other stuff? ie: brush, bricks...

To add to that, how about mulch?
fastrunner
11-22-2002, 06:58 PM
when ever i have to haul brush, pavers, leaves, mulch, stone, or anything, i just haul it in the dump bed on my truck.. works great, what a back saver!

how many yards of mulch can you get into the dump of that truck?
CSRA Landscaping
11-23-2002, 12:38 PM
fastrunner, I like your dump bed ... I wish I had one like that. I haven't had a problem yet with not enough room to haul stuff. As for the racks, I just use the brackets from the hardware store.

Is that a 48 or 52 tiger cub?If its a 48 it looks like it has some good trim side on it

Odin, it's a 48". It does have a good amount of trim on it, the deck is actually off-center towards the left.

Nice set-up but don't you have a hard time seeing whats behind you and have a hard time turning corner and catching overhead branches.
I think i'll stick to an open landscape trailer,

additional equipment not seen: Toro Groundsmaster 580-D. Specializing in sites 50 acres and larger. We travel up to 40 miles out for the day. We carry enough spare parts to literally overhaul a machine on site. Througout this entire season we have never been down that we couldn't fix it on site. The investment was worth every penny

To answer some of your replies:
Yes, it can be a bear to back up. Totalling 53' in lenght you really have to watch yourself at times. A 2500 quadrasteer HD would be ideal but they don't offer it yet in this series. You have to watch low hanging limbs, they'll do a number on black skin. Fortunately most of the sites we travel to are large scale commercial so most of the driving is highway or large parking lots.
Do I wish we had gone longer? Yes. But without a 5th wheel it becomes a dilemna. Right now we have two 60 gallon alluminum fuel tanks in the bed of the truck (one off road diesel and the other gas) and no room for a 5th wheel. Plus we are right at 10,000 lbs. as the trailer sits now. We are kind of up against it. Though with 3 hustlers and the 580-D we can bang out one of our commercial sites @ 120 acres in just over 5.5 hours. At this point you almost need a trimmer guy to try and keep up. Is it worth going bigger, we'll debate it until we're blue in the face. We're making good money so how much do you need to push.
Yes, we have a good insurance company. Erie Acutually. Word to the wise. Get replacement value on your insurance. Not CASH VALUE. If this rig burns, wrecks, rolls, whatever, they tell me to go get current market replacements. The other way they hand you a check on what they thing the equipment is currently worth. Buddy your screwed beyond belief, especially if you owe money on that stuff that exceeds what they think it is worth. Knock on wood we have never had a claim. But I have told my insurance company a dozen times if something happens I have to have that rig back up and running in a week with nothing out of pocket. It costs a couple dollars more but trust me its worth it!
Later,
ETWman
