Tried doing cleanups today, only got 2 done. Wind was 25MPH with 40 MPH gusts. Is anyone else behind in cleanups?? Between the late fall, all the rain/wind, I will be working well into december.

Don't feel alone...we're at least a week behind with all the rain we have gotten and today's wind didn't help either.

I feel your pain ken. I have people constantly calling me for cleanups, and i cant even get my normal customers cleaned up. I usually do all my accounts twice, and i havent even finished first round cleanups on half of them. It rains every other day and windy as can be today. I didnt even bother doing them today. Im usually done by the first week of december, but no way ill be done by then this year. I hope the snow will hold off.

Wind , hell try all the rain we have had for the last couple weeks. Its near impossible to get any type of work done, atleast I got all the P. M. done on all of my equipment. So would someone please send some sunshine so I dont leave ruts in my customers lawns tomorow!

I know whatcha mean! I was tempted to have everyone just stand on one side of the yard and hold some trash bags open and just let the leaves blow into them! Its pretty bad today. But its usually not like this, so its not to bad.

Good luck yall

To compound the problem, Im getting alot of "My family is coming in for Thanksgiving, do you think you could get to me.?"

I love the way people will moan if you come too early, yet they all want it done the day before a holiday.

I have two clean-ups left, not including my own, then I am pretty much done for the season. The first part of the fall was really wet, with some occasional snows not amounting to much but it is supposed to be in the mid 60's this week so I will hopefully get them all done and get my equipment put away too.

I have experienced that also. I always get to those ASAP because I'll charge at least 1.5 times more.

fusterating ain't the word for it, if its not raining its still to wet to drive on.

so tired of it today, i took off loaded up 8 old hounds and went deer hunting or you may say playing in the mud.

Ditto on the wind today. We gave up at 2:30 and went back to the shop to work on some of the equipment.

My customers are pretty good about not pestering me with people coming over for the holidays. They know we are trying to get everyone done. I usually only have a couple people call up about getting the leaves up before Thanksgiving, and try to schedule them ahead of others, especially if they are long time customers.

:blob3: gotta love customers, we've benn getting " your usually here on fridays hope everything is okay" when i call them back and tell them to sit tight we'll be there were behind with the rain, the say "did'nt realized it rained" gotta love that. tony

p.s. we also get "oh did'nt know you guys dont work in the rain", that would be the first on to call if you did work at there house in the rain.

I didn't even try today either. Ground was soggy from all the rain and the wind was too much.

This has been a real crappy year for me. We had a super wet spring, extreme drought conditions this summer and now a cold and very wet fall. It seems to rain every other day and just when the leaves get dry enough to clean it rains again. I'll just be glad to get all my clean ups and winterizer fert down and call it a year. Last fall was great, I had every thing done by Thanksgiving. This year I'll be working well into December. :( :( :( ED

I can empathise with everyone with it being so windy ... things did take a bit longer today, not much, and we got everything done by about 5. Just had to persevere and keep blowing them back where you wanted them ...

Don't bother moving down here it's just the same,Wind,Wind and more wind, mainly cold winds too.Its been the coldest spring in 20years.December is the start of Summer here but at the moment it's like Mid-Winter,I'm still wearing my Winter clothes out mowing. Its really dry too,the lawns are bearly growing, infact I'm getting a few "leave it another week" calls which is unheard of in spring time usually.Oh well it can only get better(or worse:mad: ).

Well, I do all my work on weekends as I'm not into the biz full time...yet

This WEEK I took vacation from my Mon-Fri job just to do leaf cleanups.

Well, so far... Saturday Rain, Sunday Rain, Monday 40 mph winds..

Tuesday is looking good.

Best deal is I spent ALL day building myself a leaf box on the front 8 feet of my 16 foot trailer.. It has removable sides and is great.. Time to put it to the test tommorow....

Looks like December will be working indeed.

In the beginning of clean up season I won't even go out in the 20MPH plus because it doesn't work. The more you get done, the more behind ya get.
As we get alot of them picked we will work in the wind but only mulching and picking. The backpacks stay on the trailer.

I must say that this has been a great season here. Everything fell late and we do have a few more loose ends but if a foot of snow fell today, we would be OK.

I must have dodged some of those autum rains. It's just been wet enough to do some good core aerations. I've been making up for last summer somewhat.

Today and tomorrow I'm going to spread some topdressing.
I'm going to Columbus this morning to buy some Com-Til
My trailer will carry about 10 yd.

We'd better get busy though, Thursday they're saying colder and rain, snow on the weekend.

I may be done for the year unless this snow melts. We have 2 inches on the ground and there is no expected warm up in the near future. I guess I am going to have a bunch of difficult spring clean-ups.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought for sure it was going to be about Texas chili or 5 bean soup.
