2012 Dodge 2500 4X4 SLT crew cab, with 5.7 Hemi.

Does a great job of pulling our 8.5X20 enclosed. Mpg is not very good but I knew that before I bought it.

I'm really enjoying this truck, have about 1000 miles on it so far.

Has a ton of power, more than enough for what I'm pulling. :)

MPG does stink, oh well, my wife's Camry makes up for it.

Btw, my last Dodge 2500 had a Cummins. I didn't want another one with all the emissions junk.

She is pretty even though shes not black. Were sold on the diesels here too my new ram has it and all my future ones will too. The other area I would have to do differently is when I finally do get replacement pick ups for the owners they will be 3500s because under 10k gvw here has to go through emissions.

Gotta ask, what kind of mpg are you getting? Loaded, unloaded? Thanks!

Nice truck! We have an 08 which is quite similar. Our trucks get traded in every 4 years or about 100 000 km, so we backed out of the diesels too. Pulling around an open trailer with a few mowers on it is nothing for the Hemi. We had a 5.9 cummins in the last truck and it was nice, but the repairs were killer. With that said, the Hemi doesn't like the dump trailer or the skid steer. So chances are we'll be getting a 6.7 soon!

Kelly's Landscaping that is real work truck. Is that a 4500 or 5500? That thing must be a towing beast with it's low gears. What's the most you think you've towed with it so far? If you tow heavy you might want to try a set of PacBrake airbags. Mass Diesel is close by and used to have the best price. Trucks stay level and drive better with airbags. Mass shipped me bags for my Ram 2500 & 3500 to TX for only about $265 each. If Dodge offers a truck bed on it's medium duty trucks I may ponder a 4500 or 5500 for my next ride.

She's a 4500 its 16000 gvw as far as towing I don't go much more then about 8000 pounds its a cutting truck. But the 7000 payload has been tested with 2 1/2 yards of gravel I don't think I want to know what that really weighed.

What do you use the dump bed for?

Up north where we are we have to bag about half our lawns so It normally has 2-6 yards of grass in her. Right now she has a leaf box on her along with our old gmc. But its nice for seeding work being able to carry 4 yards of top soil.

I see, I'm glad we don't bag here.

I totally agree I enjoyed the pics with those 2 over sized trailers with insane loads. Then I come in from a hard days work (yes we still are doing clean ups here) and this thread was cut in half with easily 10-15 posts deleted. At first I thought this was the wrong thread. But I am not surprised a few people here and I won't mention names may have been a little bit over the top in their passion on the whole diesel issue. The thing I was not that happy about is after all the deletions it looks like I hijacked the tread and that was never my intention.

I love black as well. My 08' Tundra is black.

There is nothing like a brand new vehicle, huh.

What are you getting towing the 8.5x20 with it?

I asked the same question but it ended up in the section that was deleted. The number can't be better then 8-9 mpg's if there are 4 1000 lb mowers in the trailer which should be about 3500 lbs empty. Throw in fuel, blowers, and other odds and ends and you could easily be looking at 8K in tow. From what it looks like online the 5.7 tow capacity is only about 8500 lbs so the engine is going to be really getting worked to the max. Anything less then 4.11 gears would not be beneficial.

Pulling out into traffic on an incline would make me want to pull my hair out big time. As everyone knows the tow numbers for the gas engines are bloated while the numbers for rigs with no plugs are vastly under rated.

At least it's flat in Houston. In west Austin the the Hemi would wear out quickly trying to pull a 20 footer in the hills. City Park Road and FM 2222 can give a truck with a load a real work out.

Start adding up those fuel bills and I think your going to have some buyers remorse in a big way. Good luck.

That's a reason I prefer the diesel I just finished fall clean ups here which last 21 days over 4 weeks. My new 4500 had a leaf box on her 6 x 8 x 9 and was towing a 1100 pound vac. What was nice is I filled the tank up the first day of clean ups and we did almost 90 of them and I still have half a tank. And some of the wet oak leaf loads weighed 3-4 tons easily.

I'm liking this truck even more now that it's gettin broke in.

About 3500 miles so far.

It pulls the 20' enclosed trailer without any problem.

I don't know if I will ever own another diesel. :dancing:

If you haven't gotten decent seat covers you should check out Cover King. Cloth seat covers get dirty and stained fast. I have cloth in my Ram as well. My covers were $500 but they were worth it.

A few of us have asked the low down on the MPG number. Are you gonna let us know what the number is?

Cool yea I just hit 9k on mine. I ordered her a twin sister about 8 weeks ago but they seem to be running behind but I am holding out hope I'll have her in 2-4 weeks. The only thing I have a complaint about is the breaks squeak and they tell me their with in specs. But were about to start seeding work and that means 3-4 ton loads of top soil in her so shes going to get to stretch her legs real soon.

I am just wondering, I am afraid to post anything pro diesel because it seems to get deleted on this thread? I have a lot of experience with both engines and I have one of each right now, But why do all of the diesel posts get deleted?

Not trying to start a problem, I am just wondering. This may explain why when I search on this site most posts that I find on this site say gas, while on other sites everyone says diesel...
