What is your average rate of pay for experienced lawn maintenance workers? Also what do you guys pay foremen/crew leader and what benefits do they receive(vacation,bonuses,sick days etc). I am curious what other companies in Florida are paying for good help.

I pay my drivers $ 500.00 per week the laborers $ 435.00 per week all get 5 sick days one week vacation and Christmas bonus.

drivers $500 to $525.

Laborers $300 to $450.

The higher rates are for laborers that know how to weed wack, edge, trim and operate the mowers.

Do you guys pay all employees a salary? I was once told that you could not pay a laborer a salary unless a certain percentage of their job was not performing labor( Supervising). Does anyone no if this is true or not? Also do you pay your seasonal help a salary also? I have always payed an hourly wage but payed my foreman a salary November-Febuary. He receives overtime all season and a salary in the off season. It would make more sense to pay him a salary all year.

You can pay anyone salary as long as you pay overtime when needed. Supervisors I believe are exempt from overtime I believe. I pay my one guy piece work $5 a lawn. It works out to be $15 an hour if we bust our humps. No vaca no sick.

Those are not union wages and Im reporting all you to the Obummer dictator regime. You are to be paying atleast $2,000 PER WEEK. Also create a pension so they have retirement money. You need to give them all 4 holiday days off before and and after each holiday.
Also under the dictators rule of power you must provide socialist health care.
Soon to come, socialist eye care and dental care
Soon to come, all lawn care terds must provide entitlement (welfare) cuts to unemployed and just down right lazy take advantage of the system people per week.
Not comforming to these rules you will pay 90% in taxes according to the demands of the 99er losers.

I also as a supervisor for a high end landscape company in Atlanta was wondering this. I have been there 2 years, also have a bachelor's in business and a associates in landscape / nursery technology. I put in about 50 hours a week and most of my houses are multi mill homes. Right now I am around 30 ,000 and was I was thinking that was a below the average. I started out at 23 kt then 3 month up to 28.5k now at 30k for the rest of the year. we are located in south Atlanta GA.

So you have a bachelor degree and supervise high end crews? And you make 10.50 per hour?

We start our guys at 13.00 per hour. We do alot of government work and are requiered to pay a living wage. Our top guys are way above this.


How do you find quality employees for 300 per week?

$13 hr x 40 hr week is $520 x 52 weeks in 27,040 I am salary so any over time is my gift to the company. I am at 30 k which comes down to $14.41 Sorry royal tree but i think your math maybe a lil off all my math is gross pay no tax

Im with Reuts on this one. You are doing good for only being there 2 years.
Unfortuantly when in the position as manager you usually are salary. Part of the job is a powertrip.
27 years ago I was making 800 per week as a waiter at extremely busy mexican restaraunt. They asked me to become a manager. Pay was 250 a week. I did it for the experience, power, and to move up in life. Left there as regional manager that covered 3 states.
Moved on in life after company was bought out by Chi Chi's.
Started lawn business and people really do freak out when I tell them they are working stupid and not smart. I still mow 125 peopel a week myself and if I told you what my wife and I make a year you would call me a liar and you smell BS. Been through it here before.Wife also works for our company.

I am not trying to put you down but think you could do much better for yourself. You can work less with less responsibility for the same money. With your background you could probably work for a larger company in a supervisor/management role and have a decent salary plus ins, 401k, company car and more.

Paying big money doesn't always insure you get good employees. But paying cheap money sure won't attract aggressive employees. You are only as good as your weakest employee.

Finding good employees is hard. Very hard. Paying top dollar doesnt mean you get the cream of the crop but paying minimum wage, or less as i know some people do, will get you nothing but rotten apples. The employees will make or often times break your company.

I am very interested in what you guys do to find the good employees.
