It really comes down to whether or not you want to pay the taxes and insurance on two vehicles or not.

Myself, being an IT guy that worked in government contracting the past 10 years, learned that it's always good to have redundancy. It's an insurance policy, when your work is mission critical.

I personally, would have two vehicles, it allows for growth and a backup alternative in the event your main vehicle is in the shop. One week of not having your main vehicle, could justify the cost of owning two vehicles depending on your loss of revenue.

It never hurts to try it out for a season and see how much you actually make use of it, or how it helps you get more jobs.

Backups are a must in this business. If you can afford it I would keep it.

BINGO! i bought a backup truck yesterday. yea its only a 1/2 ton but it will pull 16' open trailer. i may make it my main mowing rig. great for running errands, instead of always driving my dually.

Payments are killers in this biz...especially for something like a truck. They are a liablity vs. a money maker. They lose value everyday, especially when you put a nice dent i the side. If it runs and pulls fine, keep it! If you "NEED" something bigger look to buy used or go to the auctions. Buy a goverment truck or some sort of truck with a damaged tite that has no damage. DONT BUY A TRUCK! buy a mower instead!!!

Just kidding...crazy to spend 50k. I'm kinda thinking the same thing. I found a F450 with a dump bed V10. 183k miles. They are wanting $9900. Not bad I guess...I'll have to wait a little longer.

If your truck is proving itself reliable, go with what you know. It should be nice to be able to try out the advantages of two trucks.
