Alright guys, how do you feel about the pricing on this truck? I could use something a little bit bigger.

I have been looking at trucks for months now and for that year and the mileage it has that seems like a pretty good price. Then again nothing can really be said until you see it in person and drive it. Good luck!

I also have been shopping trucks for a good while and agree that it's a good price for the miles/year. I see so many people with 10 year old trucks with well over 100k miles still trying to get like 10 grand for them, it's insane!

Used car sales, especially for trucks seemed to have rose sharply over the past couple of years. Less demand for new $40k trucks coupled by a new desire to go ahead and replace the motor instead of paying a new mortgage for a truck payment.

Just got off with Matt and Crystal (nice people) and made arrangements to pick up the truck tomorrow, cash in hand. Sweet find!! Let me know if you see any other deals! This one's on me  (kidding, kidding)

Really, nice truck with low miles for that year. The price looks a little on the low side, but anything can happen on Craigslist. Think of a price that you would feel real comfortable buying the car at, subtract this from the difference and multiply by two. This is what number you mutter under your breath right after you seem really worried because your wife insisted on staying away from cloth upholstery.

Price looks good for that many miles. Have it checked out at your auto service guy of choice. Anything CL to me MUST be inspected first, too many shysters out there.

Thanks guys, I will go look at it soon. I hate this, he said 7 other people are interesting in it. Trying not to get rushed.

Anything to look for in these trucks?

I have an almost identical truck. Mine is a 2000 Extended cab 6.0. It has 152,000 miles on it, almost always pulling a trailer. It has been a great truck. I have done very little maintenance on it. (front wheel bearings, sparkplugs, 2 drivers side window motors, gas and oil) I have never even put brake pads on it. It has been the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. I have considered buying a new truck, but I doubt it would be as good as the one I own now. So I will just keep this one. My only complaint is the fuel mileage. I have a 4.11 rear end so I get 11mpg empty and about 7 with a trailer. $5000 sounds like a good deal to me, good luck.

I have the exact truck. Good deal! Fuel mileage is the same in any 3/4 ton truck. I have 128000 on mine and it's been great for me. I like a normal size truck. Too much sheet metal in the new ones. I plows and tows with ease. You'll love it coming from a 1/2 ton. Go for it.

You'd be better off with a long bed if you're using it for work. Nice work truck for the price though.

Keep in mind that this is a 2500, not a 2500HD. Still a "3/4 ton", but does not have a full floating rear axle and not as HD overall. The 2500 in this year is the same truck as the later model 1500HD.

I'd rather have a long bed, but unless some major component is completely dead, that is a hell of a good deal.

The GVW is 8600, the same as nearly every 3/4 ton for many years prior to that. The 2500HD has a GVW of around 9200...I forget exactly.

Thanks for getting back to me guys. SO I found a new truck :)

This one is a 2003 2500HD with 90k miles.

Problem is that it is at an auction site. KBB on the truck is right about 14. I think I am going to set my max limit for myself around 8-10k. and go from there.

What do you think a truck like this would be worth at auctions, very little rust, does not look to beat up at all. I was not allowed to drive it, but I did start it up and let it run for about 25 minutes, oil looked ok, tranny fluid wanst bright red anymore but didn't look real bad. Brakes seemed ok and it seemed to shift into 4x4 ok.

What are some other things to look for?

I am thinking about 8-10k.

What are you thoughts?

Thanks!

I would shoot for a lower price. It s a 9 year old truck with close to 100000 miles and you re not aloud to give it a good drive. I bought my 2000 Chevy 2500 with 79000 miles 3 years ago for $4000. You will start replacing random stuff due to wear. Ex. Oil cooler lines, fuel pump, fuel and brakes lines if it has been exposed to salted roads during its life. It looks like a nice truck but don't over spend. Try for the 5-6 grand range tops. Good luck.

Thanks ashgrove,

Auction is on Tuesday, we will see how it goes.

Do you guys know of any big trouble spots on these trucks?

I went over the whole thing, nothing major that I could see.

good looking truck for sure, but i agree, dont overspend. a proper test drive makes the price go up, and none makes the price go way down.

I like the 2006, because it has the 8.1 and the allison tranny not to mention it is 3 years newer, but for 4 k less I think I could get a decent truck too. He claims they are both from the south. we willl see about that. My guess is that they were work trucks with caps on them and that is why the tail gate is missing. what do you think?

also I was thinking about offer 10,700 on the 2006, what you think?

Thanks again!
