Hello,

I am looking to purchase a walk behind scag 48 with hydros or an Exmark 48 either viking or turf tracer. A toro grandstand 48 would be awesome but price would be the decider.

Not looking to buy a mower with more that 500 hours on the clock.

I am located in Northern Virginia.

Thanks,

Sam

Why are there ever no mowers on the east coast?

I have a 2010 Exmark 48 Lazer Z, I know you are looking for a walk-behind or stand on, but this machine is still really nice. Less than 450 hours on it. Just thought I'd run it by you.

Aaron, thanks for offering up your Z. Sounds like a really nice machine. I'm trying to stick to a walk behind.

If your looking for something under 500 hours you might as well just buy a new one. We put over 500 hours on our mowers in a season. Plus you would get a warentee

I check craigslist everyday. A scag 48 hydro with 17hp kawasaki in great condition just popped up seems to be 2 years old with low hours 200-300ish. The guy is asking 2750 for it. I think thats a little high.

At 2500 you would save about half off a new one ... I think a new one runs about 4500 to 5000...

bump... I checked out that local scag. had a bent fork or bearings were bad (tire was rubbing on fork and had some play), looked like upwards of 500+ hours, tires were getting 20% tread, muffler top had a rust hole in it. hydros felt good, but the biggest issue was the when you pulled the blade engagment, the blades would sometimes engage or you would have to pull it twice, sometimes the engine would die. not sure what was going on. he came down to 2500 though.

So are you going for it or still thinking about it ?

felt like 2500 was alot for whats needed to get it running good.

That deal that I missed yesterday for the brand new 36 turf tracer on ebay was a steal compared to this mower.

Yeah, I was going to say that I thought $2500 was high for what needed to be done. I don't know if you would want to head to New Jersey but here's a ad for a 48'' scag hydro and he might have some 48'' vikings to sell, if you talk to him I'm sure he will get you some pics of them. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=373012

O yea lol that makes sense. We don't always think about that here in the wide open, rolling meadows of central MN.

Hey have you thought about a snapper pro or something similar? You can usally buy a new one for about the same price as a good used hydro scag.. Just an idea...

My brother may sell a 48 scag with about a hundred hours on it, he bought it to mow his yard and is now moving. He lives in johnson city if that is close enough for you to get it

Found an 2010 exmark viking with 50 hours on it (bought in aug 2010). Looks like its in great condition but he is 4 hours away and all I can go off is his words and pictures. He is asking 3100. comes with a 2 wheel velkie.

Is this a decent price for this mower?
