I have a project to do. A large row of red tips has a large evasive Privet growing right in the middle. Property manager wants it cut out and replaced with a matching red tip. I informed him that red tip Photinia are no longer sold around here because of the troublesome black spot. He told me to rip out all of it and replace it with something else.:D These shrubs are from 4 ft. high to 7 ft. high and the row is about 20' long on a slight curve and incline. Guess Ill have to cut them down with a chainsaw and dig the stumps out. I thought about replacing it with Cleyra (sp?). They look like Photinia, but they foliage is thicker is they are pretty much pests free. Anyone else have a problem with buying Photinia? Personally I dont like them much because of the blackspot. Does Cleyra sound like a good replacement?

Thanks for the reply. I found Cleyera in 5 gal. for, I think, $30 each. I haven't started the job yet, but I probably will this week. I wanted some much bigger.:( Probably gonna space 'em about 3 or 4 feet apart.
