Bear with me here, I'm gonna spill the whole story on this machine cuz I have made a couple threads/posts about problems I had with it on here so just so we're all on the same page and to make it clear that I'm not trying to hide anything. Ok heres the deal with this.....I bought it brand new last June (2011). I used it for about 2 weeks then noticed it started having horrible vibrations through the shaft when the blade started getting more than 1/4 worn. I took it back to the dealer, they claimed it was because I wasn't using Stihl blades ($4.60 each) and the "cheap chinese steel" in the J-Thomas blades ($1.50 each) was causing the problem. I got the edger back, worked ok for a couple houses, then started having the same problem again. Took it back, same answer. This went on for about 3 weeks, me making return trips weekly to the dealer and them giving me the same answers. I finally gave in and bought some of their $4.60 Stihl blades, put one on, edged 2 sidewalks with it and it started vibrating really bad again. Took it back to the dealer AGAIN, they kept it for like 2 weeks trying to diagnose it, and said they couldnt find anything physically wrong with the edger. So I took it back and it went and sat in my shop from like the beginning of August until the end of the season because I had since fixed the problem with my old edger (which is why I bought a new one to begin with) and just kept using that. Fast-forward to about 2 months ago. I took it into ANOTHER Stihl dealer that a friend of mine has had good luck with and went through the whole story with them. 2 days later, they replaced the gearbox and driveshaft and it works great with ANY blade no vibration. The said that this was most likely the problem all along and they had heard other such stores similar to mine about the dealer I was going to before.
As I said, I fixed my old edger and havent been using this Stihl so I'd like to sell it. In all honestly it probably has LESS than 20 hours of use on it. As you can see in the pics, its got very little wear on it, and it comes with all of the original manuals and paperwork from Stihl, including some REALLY SWEET safety glasses! I'll also throw in 5 or 6 "Stihl extra thick" edger blades that I got suckered into buying at $4.60 a piece. I paid $350 for it, I think thats still about what they are going for now. I don't even really know what to ask for it, so make me a REASONABLE offer. I am willing to ship it at buyers expense. Any questions please feel free to ask! Thanks!
