I am looking to hire a sub for a couple of large properties in the city of Lansing, MI. The jobs are large (just under 180 acres total) with alot of trimming. This will not be an easy job. You will need at least 2 riders and 3 trimmers close to full time. The jobs will pay between $3500 & $4000 per week. If you have the equipment and time and are close to the area, please give me a call John 586-634-2904

Yeah $4k a week isnt shabby even for a couple large mowers, but if its a 5 man crew 4.5-5 full days a week @8hr est. days with two machines going ~40hrs a week each..... most residential little guys here can hit $800 a day with one 48" or 61" mower and a helper if they're good accounts..... Lot of overhead for a job like that.

I know a local dump contract was estimated at ~300 out of 540 acre property was maintained.... 5 day a week job, leave your enclosed trailer onsite, would require two 61" or 72" mowers all week and 2 guys trimming 3 days a week, one man trimming fast could probably do it "myself" but even i'd wear out on that job and throw in the towel.

The company that has the bid was a hair under $6k and our bid was over $8k a week.

They also paid their employees less per hour "by a lot probably" and had old toro mowers.

We'd have 2-4yr old Ferris machines, a 9k enclosed trailer, all newer Stihl/Redmax stuff dedicated for the site and a 50k+ Deere tractor pulling a 14' batwing wide area fold down mower 2 days a week to knock out some bigger rough areas.

I honestly dont know how the current company seems to get it all done 5 days a week with just two zero turns it looks like.

If i lived in Michigan already i'd take a look at it, if its anywhere near rundown detroit suburbs, maybe $4k a week is easy given the vast labor available in that market.

Most likely you would not be there for 40 hours. My guys could do it in 16-20. I just figured most guys won't have the experience that we do and it may take them longer. The cutting part should be done in under 20 for sure. The catch would be if the trimmers can keep up. $4000 is for the entire job.

In this market, you would have to do about 55 lawns a day to do $800. The average price in our area for a home with 5000 sq ft lawn is only $15. The market here sucks.

let me guess. Are they cemeteries???? I am still interested. so if you have 100 man hours for the week, your at $40/hour. not the best money but the bonus is you have zero "window" time since its at 2 stops. bust ass for 2 days and get it done.

Good grief.

I don't get out of the truck for less than $25 and that might go to $30 with the forecasted gas/diesel prices reaching or passing $4 to $5.

Yes they are. The 2 spots are 1/2 mile apart. There was a quote less than half of mine, but they did not sign the bid. :hammerhead:
